Just out of curiosity do Deloitte, KPMG & PwC have a CBS equivalent? Basically a group for all the non-Client Service employees. Lower raises and bonuses, less chance for promotion but supposedly people in this group work less hours and have “job security “..(which is mostly BS at EY as I’m now in CBS and often work 60-70 hours per week).

I don’t know what CBS stands for but yes. PwC has IFS (internal firm services) which July 1 will be called Business Services I think

likefunnyhelpful

At KPMG it’s called Business Process Group (BPG). Everything from HR, internal accounting, marketing, risk management, etc etc etc.

CBS is core business services - HR, IT support, finance, and secretaries.

No, the other firms just use client service teams to do A/P and A/R. Generally have to do a 6 month rotation before getting promoted to director. You also have to audit expense reports, which should be pretty easy going forward.

It’s a great opportunity if you want to go to industry at some point.

Huh?

I know you’re asking about big 4 but BDO has BSO and I remember I thought it was a typo for the longest time before I found out it was actually a ~thing.

Less focus on utilization/revenue generation, yes. Lower salary/bonus, definitely. Less overtime, no. I have exceeded client facing OT every year.

Why do you stay then?

like

Deloitte has enabling areas (finance, talent, cos, marketing, etc)- basically all back office support. Salaries are lower, overtime is generally less or at least consistent. Promotion path is different and terminates at MD

Good evening all,
With my partner we are considering making a move to the countryside of Switzerland, with a gorgeous RE project offering incredible views on immaculate mountains and lake. However, it is far away, and will require 1h+ train/car commute vs. 10 min biking right now. We are scared it will bite us back at some point, although COVID helped w/ remote working being a new norm. The project will be done 2024, so I hope to have a more relax job by then. Any similar experience to share?

My company covers in depth results each week, including meetings set/attended, wins, revenue, retention etc. I feel as if evaluating in such depth is detrimental to the psyche, as you never get to “ride the high.” In addition, some weeks are simply slower than others, and it’s not always representative of what the results at the end of the period or quarter will be. Is this not a big deal, and I’m I placing too much importance on it? Or is it beneficial to review results less frequently?

Hey fishes. I have been offered Management Consultant role with CTC break up in terms of JB, RB, fixed and variable. So is the fixed amount my gross salary without any other deduction except TDS, or will the organisation contribution to PF be also deducted from the fixed component? Also, will claimable components like LTA, mobile bill reimbursement etc. be in addition to this fixed component or will they be included in it?
