Hi Fishes, I am considering a Senior Engineer role with Alteryx (previously Hyper Anna) Sydney. If it's not too much trouble, I was hoping if anyone here could share their experience of working at Alteryx Sydney in terms of Culture, work life balance, politics, work pressure, people, Leadership and product. Thanks.

You can buy a home warranty. First American is probably the largest provider. Many people say that it’s difficult to get service. A policy will be around $700 and varies based on the size of the house and additional coverages like HVAC. Also, they will usually just keep repairing something rather than replacing it.

There is usually the concept of in network. You call the warranty company and they send their in network provider. I’ve had two bad experiences, one with a broken garage door where they came out and then said that parts of the garage door were not to code and they could fix the broken part without upgrading other parts that were not covered by the warranty and were expensive. The other was a broken garbage disposal where the in network provider wouldn’t call me back to schedule an appointment. I ended up just fixing it myself.

I just use Facebook groups for my area and I hate FaceBook. Today I had a major failure on the well for my house. I found a guy 2 miles away that my neighbors had recommended. Sent the text at 7:00am and he was here by 8:30am. It’s tough to beat that kind of service. I keep an emergency fund in addition to normal house expenses. Sweep the rest HYSA or investments, monthly. I’d just expect any reputable contractor to offer a 1 year warranty on new construction. Beyond that I don’t want to manage claims, denied or approved based on their determination. Insurance is for major events, tree falls on house, pipe bursts, fire, etc… That’s how I do it anyway. If I didn’t DIY at all I’d probably find a handyman and just pay by the job.
