Also be prepared to ask them about the company, their vision for the future, where they are focusing their energy. A good CEO is looking for people who will help them fulfill their vision.
Interesting take. Thanks for the tip!
Be ready to answer concisely to why you want to work there - I stumble over that every time but it tends to be important to CEOs I’ve interviewed with.
CEOs in my own experience tend to ask more standard questions, then say creative leaders, so be prepared with that general slate: your weakness, your strengths etc
Prepare. The questions you ask should give everyone a peek into who you are. Ideally that’s thoughtful, receptive, curious and the right person for this particular role
Appears the company has been super excited about my interviews with them, my resume and portfolio. They said they are speeding up the interviewing process with me. I’m currently working at a pretty toxic agency under toxic leadership so this new opportunity has been so refreshing and uplifting (didn’t tell the new place that info, just said I’m looking to grow). Definitely want the job but have never interviewed with a ceo before.
Short concise and direct. Dont fluff
If they’re having you meet with the CEO, they’re either smaller than you think, or feel your position is important enough to warrant a meeting with you. Either way, it means they’re very interested in you, and you should be confident going in with that fact.
Definitely do the research; find out any/everything you can about their business, growth plans, mission, culture, values, etc. and ask the CEO in particular smart, open-ended questions that he/she can expand upon. Most CEOs enjoying hearing themselves talk. Feign interest. 😏
For the VP of digital, he/she will want to hear that you’re interested in being an extension of the team, that you’re willing to be an advocate for the quality of the end-product, and the team’s biggest fan vs someone that is just focused on client deliverables/pressures.
This is super helpful, thank you!
let your personality shine
Go in and just do your best. And don't be nervous. And be friendly.
