You are a SM and shouldn’t be scraping for cash. Suck it up for one month and be grateful that you have the problem of two insurance companies when so many in our country have none.
Suck it up for one month
So in essence, I am paying health insurance premiums at two companies. Anyway around to save one premium?
I believe you can talk to HR at EY and show them proof as a qualifying life event. The event would be the new health insurance on getting a new job. You would need to get a letter from the new job's HR showing the date the plan begins then send that to EY HR telling them you want the health benefits to end on November 5.
This isn't a "just suck it up" issue. This can be a serious problem if your insurer doesn't allow you to be covered simultaneaously by another plan (most don't). If your insurer finds out you are double covered, they can deny any claims you make during that time. I would do whatever you can to get your EY plan canceled faster.
Sounds like poor timing
