Publicis was 2 weeks, but then a week like every year of service up to 10 years or something.

This is standard for agencies.
I’ve had success in the past by saying - I’ll be available to the team to answer any questions they have if you make it x weeks instead. But that was at a private company, not a holding co, where these things are set by high ups.

Two weeks is standard in advertising. It's just like our benefits package and parental leave policies. Terrible.
Hate to be this guy but..... Laid off or fired? Fired usually is just 2 weeks, but redundancies / layoffs tend to have more time built in to the larger decision.
I’ve been laid off several times and it’s usually very much depending on the agency’s size/size of layoff/ how long my tenure. Just saying. If you get fired they don’t owe you a thing.
I’ve gotten a week per year in the past.
Yep, got 10 days here. Unused vacation days were not paid per a policy that I didn’t realize when I signed. Someone in the company hired a lawyer and basically they said “absolutely not”. Worked there for a year and 8 months. Insurance was only for the remaining 28 days.
I guess it depends on the company and if you can get together with other people they layer off and ask together. More people, more power.
Not California. For an agency in NY but it is part of a worldwide media conglomerate…very progressive… (trying to give clues…)
Also just go thermonuclear and say the CEO called you a leper and made you watch Ben Hur after hours — so you want 2 months.
In your counter offer make it explicitly clear how the workplace environment made you feel sexually uncomfortable at all times.
Given the climate, you could get a lawyer to help fight such terrible severance. The only way for the big agencies to get better is to fight or shame the way they treat employees.
GroupM a week for every year minimum 2 weeks. However, traditionally in the industry it was a month for every year. But Mark Read needs his multi million dollar bonus. I had to sue !
We’re you laid off from GroupM?
If you’re an MD try and haggle for more. 6 weeks and you’ll go politely
I’ve heard of 2 weeks + 1 week for every year in agency. In tech, you get much more.
I got ten months from a Publicis agency five or six years ago one month for each year over a couple tours. I was not impressed with the meta packages until I read here most ad folks are now going getting a week per year yikes
How many years have you been there OP?
Sorry to hear, OP 😔. Usually the only way they’ll come up is if you have some sort of leverage e.g. trade secrets that aren’t protected by an NDA, reason to believe you were laid off in a way that violates some sort of employment law, and/or stories that they would pay for you to keep on the DL. Otherwise, I say ask for help on LinkedIn, write a scathing Glassdoor review, name and shame on platforms like this one (so they have difficulty recruiting in the future), and consider negotiating a specific severance agreement into your next job offer, in the unfortunate case that you find yourself in this situation again down the road.
DDB only gave one week lol
I got 5 weeks (just shy of 6 years working there) and negotiated 2 more weeks. They also gave 3 months of cobra payments. I still think it should have been more considering how heavily you’re taxed on the lump sum. It also is end of year and I was about to return from Mat leave. I’m a little upset about the whole situation but overall 7 weeks plus 3 months of cobra seems to be pretty decent.
I negotiated 4 weeks severance when accepting an ACD offer at Publicis, but usually it’s 2 weeks.
