✨Less meetings

✨Actual feedback i.e tell me what's wrong and how I can improve. Don't give me general crap like "communication problems"

✨ Room for innovation

✨ Room for disagreement. Cannot believe how many orga work against their interests cus they don't want to address the elephant in the room

Simple - remote employment

A few things that would help me
1) match the person’s name in outlook/teams to what they want to be called.
2) outlook and teams have a spot for how to pronounce your name. (And a spot on your internal practices on how to read pronunciation)
3) big meetings should have the presenter’s name on the slide. Yes, have a deck that has the part of agenda you are on and who the main speakers are with what role they are in the company
4) remind folks that at least in ms operating systems, there is an auto captioning available. Nowadays, I think it is 85% correct in technical discussions, 90-95% in normal conversations. It helps when there are accents and/or mic issues.
5) sonic cloud software helps with fine-tuning your audio experience on team/zoom calls. This can help deaf/hard of hearing, folks listening to new accents, extra sound boost on the shop floor and for those who are nearing the need for hearing aids.
6) dragon software for those who would rather talk than type.
7) maps of your buildings and related signage in easily accessible locations online and in the building. If you are someone who is making building meeting appointments. Addresses of the building, the company name and the floor room number is key. Example: sherwin interiors, 1253 Maddox road Portugal,Maine. “Far west Center building” floor 10. Room 241-56.
8) wall colors that doesn’t remind you of hospital/prison beige.
9) counter tops for coffee/tea that can raise/lower for those who need it.
10) company prepped ideas, processes and community resources on accessible softwares and tools that are already available.

I've struggled with this, especially in a remote-first company. I've tried to be more curious and ask questions on how to meet people where they are, and try to promote more opportunities for people to share their experiences and feedback.

4 day work week

Google "iceland economy 4 day work week" 👏🏼 (you probably know but for anyone else who sees this)

Remote work.

Fortunately, my employer has space for everyone to work the way that works best for them, whether it be remotely, in a hybrid situation or at the office full time.

For me, that was the biggest game changer, because I was then able to create a workspace that works best for me…with my trusted office assistant to purr at my feet. 😻

Has anyone here participated in the year long remote year program? My company is fully remote in the US and is in general supportive of me going but concerned about local and international tax liability. Remote year doesn’t share tax advice and our HR team is small. Curious to hear from people at companies who have done it before and if there were any issues from a tax or payroll perspective. Trying to get the formal approval from my company before officially signing up, advice welcome!

It’s looking like my job is gonna start asking us to return to the office. We have an open office plan and before we wfh FT I would save all my work for my telework days bc I can’t get shit done in the office. I’m having major anxiety about them making this decision. I know I’m not alone that people don’t want to return to the office. My ADHD and the open office just makes working from the office a nightmare and I’m feeling really nervous and kind of resentful.

Hey so like - newfound reason for my procrastination since I got on Ritalin - a tendency towards "putting things off so I can enjoy the hyperfocus later". Hi! I’m a young professional with less than 2 years experience, started a new job 1.5 months ago. I’m having quite some difficulties on balancing out my response time to tasks. While I act incredibly fast if not immediately with some, I sometimes take 1-2 weeks with couple of hours worthy ones. Sometimes I ignore, procrastinate or simply other more urgent things come up to increase the delay. Also I work with 3 managers in my team which doesn’t help with expectations nor guidance. Any tips pls?

Can anyone relate? If I’m stressed out, I can’t focus on my tasks because my productivity is driven by creative and explorative thought. When I’m stressed or anxious, my mind doesn’t have the room or space to think freely to get things done, and I end up bouncing around different tasks not getting anything done. And then there’s the whole dopamine addiction issue with doing a small amount of work then hopping on social media because you feel like you need the reward. Just me?

I just started meds yesterday and the change in my focus and attention to detail is mind blowing. My only concern is, just yesterday I had a tough feedback session with my manager around how I’m taking too long to complete my work, giving them anxiety around close deadlines. I’m new in the job (3 months in). Should I explain anything about my adhd to my manager or just wait for them to notice the change in me?
