Besides working in a tax role in industry what are the options for a Senior who doesn’t enjoy tax compliance anymore? Already CPA. I am not sure what to do.
Is the “expert” role or position at mcK considered reputable ? Is that the highest as compared to b4? Like a partner ?
Has anyone made a successful transfer from an EM/EL position at MBB to a VP at a BB ibank, or vice versa? I know the skillsets are different but wouldn’t they even out at the project management level?
How would you map Amazon grades 5,6,7,8 to big4 consultancy? I’ve looked at levels.fyi etc but it’s hard to map properly Personal comparison is AWS l6 vs Director at Deloitte Originally was looking at l7 but was down-levelled during hiring process after I set my salary expectations 5 - Senior Manager 6 - Director 7 - Senior Director / Early Partner / Non equity partner 8 - Partner ???
Offer for consulting position at big 4 was delayed by 3 months. Have offer for part time cashier position at local store. Should I accept it while I wait to start at big 4? I'm a recent grad.
What does it take to become a senior manager? What does the role entail and what should one be doing at the mgr level to obtain SM?
Did I mess up by not going into PA? I have an MSA and could sit for the CPA. I started off doing Internal Finance at a consulting firm and I’ve now moved into a more internal pm role but (cont)
I was debating between two offers and decided to go with company A(less money, more interesting role). But the Manager from B went above and beyond to give me better pay&connected with me personally. He is super nice and called me 3 times to give me updates and got an offer ready within a day. He even said if I don’t go with him it’s okay and he can also help me decide on other offers as a career coach. I’m genuinely upset that I won’t work with him and don’t know how tell him nicely on Monday.
Entering my 2nd year as a medical malpractice (insurance) defense litigator. My billables are 2200 per year, even during WFH and COVID while the courts are moving very slowly. Any advice as to what I should look into for an exit? I can’t hit those billables while maintaining my sanity.
Any ex-consultants here exit to Strategy Advisor roles at CVS Health in Woonsocket, RI? Interested to hear your experiences!
Facing an interesting dilemma about compensation vs title and looking for advice. I am currently a Senior Manager in the industry (work in Financial Systems). I recently got an offer for a Senior Business Analyst role (total compensation of $250K) in the same city - my current comp is $170K. The role is a major step down in title and responsibilities but gives me almost 50% increase in TC. The only reason interviewed at all is the TC.
I just left BigLaw as a mid-level for a generalist in-house role. It took me over a year of searching because I was a litigator in a niche practice, so most companies didn’t want me. My focus in the new role is developing general skills - contracts, transactions, partnerships, IP, etc. - but I don’t want to stay at this company for long, because the pay is subpar for an in-house role at my seniority. What’s the minimum amount of time I can stay before reasonably applying to other in-house roles?
Current undergrad. Have internship offers for two very different roles. The first is a public sector generalist management consulting position in DC. The second is for a smaller early-stage incubation venture capital firm in NYC. I've always been somewhat of a generalist, with varying interests. I feel as though based on my decision my life could go in very different directions... Any insights? Esp if you're in public sector consulting or have made a similar dec. Gratitude.
What organizations hire entry level software engineers with only internship experience? I have a friend who is 29 with a BA in finance who recently completed a software engineer boot camp with per scholars. She just completed a 4 month internship with a fintech. She is a black, masculine presenting lesbian and has a hard time landing a role. She is feeling really down about it.
PwC 🐬 do you know if we can book rooms and car directly from the hotel and car hire websites with the Corporate AMEX and code instead of Voyager? I get some cashback doing it on the websites.
Diamond w/ Delta & have 0 status w/ any other airline except w/e basic United status Marriott gives. New project in Chicago, worth it to switch or just deal w/40 min layovers in Detroit/Atlanta?
Looking at a corporate strategy team @ a F500 fintech company in a MCOL city. 4 others who are currently in the role are ex Tier 2 (OW,EPY, S&) w/ 3-4 YOE. However, recruiter (who is 3rd party) quoted up front that total comp is 150K and most likely not very negotiable. This just feels odd because knowing the comp that T2 firms pay, the other folks must have taken at least a 15% pay cut. Is it common for people to take a cut that big this early on?
I just got a great offer: my preferred role, company, and compensation all match what I really want. My only concern is moving during this COVID environment. What're your thoughts on this?
For those who have gotten into HSW without having started a startup/non-profit, worked at MBB/PE/FAANG, or gone to Ivy/MIT/Stanford undergrad, could you please share your profile/story? -ORM & mildly above average gal trying to find hope
Asked to write a case study as part of interview for a data analyst role! Anyone have any suggestions on what cases might be best? I was thinking of using an insight (from a past campaign) but am afraid it’s too specific and not something that can be applied to all campaigns.
A*hole client totally ignores my existence during email conversation. Even if I’m the one who emailed him, I get replies addressed to my senior manager, like I don’t even matter. Like WTF?
I have to pay almost $500 a month to get to my "local" client site. Who can I complain to about this if my manager doesn't let me bill in? I can't afford this on my average salary.
How do you deal with uncertainties in life? I am in a project and not happy at all. I’ve got an offer somewhere but cannot leave due to some issues. How should I keep calm and carry on with this s***?
Have an offer from PwC (Senior Associate FS Insurance) and Accenture ( Consultant FS Insurance) which would be a better career move?
Passing along a role at a profitable, remote startup in the ed-tech space. Good fit for consultants looking to transition to tech: https://www.reforge.com/careers/strategy-lead
If you get laid off as green card holder, do you have to go back to your home country? Can I take contract jobs while searching for full time?
How much is sign on bonus now across the street? Same for IBD and S&T? How’s a-a bonus comparing to MBA hire?
Is it appropriate to ask to flex time off if I’ve been working “OT”/long hours for a project? I’m junior IHC & new to the job (though I interned at the company for 1.5 years before becoming IHC). The company has a relaxed culture and good work life balance. Example: my coworkers (non-attorney) will typically just announce that they’re flexing on x day because of x reason. When I started as In House Counsel, my original GC told me to pick my schedule, and was fine with my 8-4 choice (cont)
For the past 2 months I have had trouble accessing any non-client or company websites. I thought the client was blocking me. Turns out it was "Websense" that the company installed that was blocking me
