Hello All, I have offer in hand of 27.5 LPA+15% variable from ZS Associates as a BT Solutions delivery consultant and now my current company is ready to retain me by matching the offer & assuring that they will send me onsite to UK in couple of months. Now I am in a dilemma of what to do as I have been looking for onsite opportunities for my entire career so far. Kindly share your thoughts. it could happen; not sure how common it is but it could happen. however, unless you really dislike where you are at -- clearly you know this isnt your best option. 25% raise is a min to jump the ship
This sounds like a major D move
Ha don’t do it
Storytime: applied to D for one level up. Got through interviews swimmingly. Really clicked with partner and all the way down to SCs. Got the offer, almost 30% bump (base).
Read the fine print and noticed they deranked my title (so made it a lateral) without mentioning it at all. Huge reg flag to me. I got all pissy that they thought that was cool. Sure a healthy raise for the same role sounds good in theory, but my ego was involved.
So long story short, used their offer to get a counter and internal promo and sent D packing. Recruiter at D was pissed, so we were even.
Takeaway: negotiating offers at D requires fightin dirty
This is a good sign. Stay where you are until you find a better opportunity.
Or it means your current pay matches your current market value…
You should be willing to take a pay cut to move to the Harvard of consulting.

No. Tell them to pound sand
Do they think you are desperate? They should know that not many people would take that kind of risk for the same comp.
Yes very common for internal hiring. I hope they haven't dinged your title/level.
Why would a lateral move automatically entitle you to more money. It means you are being paid market rate currently
what was the offer? group?
It tricky to tell our opinions without sharing your role and offer details.
Did you try to negotiate? Did you tell them what you're currently making?
Yea I did, tbh same salary ok I get it - but no sign on I was like wtf
Lol
I did it and took a pay cut because long term upside was there. It paid off after 6 months but I had to eat a 10K less base salary.
I’d refer you to KPMG if you are interested while exploring your opportunities. Send me a dm if so.
Yep, it's typical to not get more money if it's a lateral move. There's no reason to.

Ummmm what? Laterals can get 25%+ salary bumps…
