Is this via business school recruiting? If so, it could be because you didn’t show enough interest during recruiting events.
Obviously everyone wants to work for McKinsey. T2s tend to be more insecure and want to make sure applicants are at least somewhat interested in their work rather than having an MBB or bust mentality.

Yes no exact science to selective admissions / hiring whether it’s consulting, politics, education, etc. I once got accepted into the House Majority Leader’s internship program but rejected by a local rank and file Congressman. People get into Harvard and rejected by UCLA.

Because majority of recruiters are useless. Unfortunately for you, your resume probably fell into the wrong hands at Accenture. But also fortunately, it fell into the right hands at McK
Mck partner here who once upon a time got a hard turn-down from Accenture with pointed feedback when applying as an exp hire. Just roll with it... much of this is random and sometimes it works out for the best.

I only got interviews from McKinsey and BCG. EY / EY-P never even bothered to tell me no, and yet here I am, almost ready to make senior director.
I got rejected by every MBB, big 4 and tier 2 strategy firms, and M7 B-schools (only 2-3 interviews in TOTAL across 3 years period!). Ended up joining BCG at post-MBA level as a lateral hire
Basically it means McK has better recruiters
Consulting recruiting is kinda a crapfest lol - probs just got unlucky
Sometimes when cv screening too many cvs, you just pick a pile at random and discard the rest. Might’ve been unlucky
Because Accenture is wise to what they get when they hire a tenured associate from IBM.
I also am not looking down on accenture. Accenture beats out Mckinsey in tech. Just thought this was ironic when I found out last week.
