No such thing as a durable German car. The only way to have a chance of making it reliable is by proactively overspending on maintenance
I have a 2018 SQ5 with the same engine. It’s reliable and has never needed anything but routine maintenance. Don’t listen to the doom and gloom
3 years and bought it at 30k miles. It’s at 65k now. It’s a really good car
Agree with A1, I have 2019 S5 Sportback (42K miles) and have only needed brake work. Got extended warranty (Endurance) just in case.
Highly recommend the Sportback (2018+)
Love my ‘21 sportback. Bought two years ago with 15k mile (27k now). No issues to date. Have a local independent should anything pop up
I purchased a 2014 RS5 convertible with around 30k miles around eight years ago, so a similar age to yours. While I would say that it is mostly been reliable, repairs can definitely be quite expensive. I have had to have things like brakes/rotors, fuel pumps, control arms, and lights replaced. These are all considered maintenance items. Repairs in the $1000-$3000 range are not unusual. Tires will run close to $2000 with alignment. Not an inexpensive car to drive. The key is to find a good local independent mechanic who knows these cars and how to buy parts. Labor rates at the dealer are generally crazy.
Good insight
That said, RS cars typically have more rigorous maintenance schedules than S cars. Former tends to have more frequent (quicker wearing parts) and more expensive (higher grade parts) service requirements
2017 and 2018 are two different generations..
If I’m not mistaken those years have the rocker arm issues
