Favorite office chair?
Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.
So here are my questions.
How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.
When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.

I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

I've bought 4 off of Craigslist and all are still performing. Don't really need a warranty at $300

Just buy it retail, you’ll have it for 10+yrs
What did they change with the aeron?
Interior designers get a hefty discount. Question is whether they’ll pass any on to you

@D3 - may not need warranty now but what if in a few years something pops off?
I saw a new one on CL for $875 fully loaded (decent enough deal, but minus warranty) - to which I’d rather pay an extra $100 and get a brand new one with 12y warranty

If you’re working from home a lot, and need equipment for your home office.. go to HR and complain about ergonomics.. and they may fund some office upgrades for you.. might be good to get a doctors note..or occupational therapist to assist your case..
@D1 - you pay $$ for a bed that you sleep in for at least 8 hours a night, right? If you travel, for a minimum of 3 nights a week. Let’s say that mattress costs you 1k.
Now, let’s say you work from Home a decent amount, game, etc. you sit in that office chair for upwards of 12+ hours a day. You really want to skimp on that? Open your mind 😬🤯😳
@AM1 - I was honestly thinking that. Asking HR if there’s a discount they get when outfitting offices that I can leverage or if they’ll fund it for me. Have you heard of this in the past?

I paid $530 on Amazon — vendor was Chairorama and it was for a very specific configuration. Prices seemed to be variable though even on Amazon depending on the configuration.
I'd also consider the embody. It is comparable in price once you consider the cost of the add-ons to the Aeron.
I sat in the Embody yesterday at the store - honestly (to each their own) I don’t think it even compares
@SA1 - was it the remastered model you got? And was it a brand new chair or refurbished?
The only reason I want brand new is so I can benefit from the 12 year warranty. If you buy from unauthorized reseller, used, etc. the warranty is void
