I suggest Coursera. Google has a few courses on the platform for ux design, research and more. LinkedIn has refresher course work. You can try to do the free 30 day option with them. Just remember to cancel if you don’t want to pay. There’s a group on LinkedIn, “user experience design (ux).” It has awesome content. https://start.uxdesign.cc/
Hope this helps!
You won't do much better than David Travis for introductory UX courses. Considering being in UX is a commitment to lifelong learning, you'll have plenty of opportunities to build on that experience.
The sentiments of employers will be all over the map. This is due to a UX maturity level problem throughout the discipline. Most, however, don't place a great deal of value on certifications. I'd also highly recommend that you steer clear of the Google UX course. The curriculum is lacking, teachers aren't really teaching (or engaged), and work is graded by peers (i.e., graded by non-experts), so the feedback segment of the learning process is sorely lacking. Some also cheat their way through the program by turning in blank assignments and asking for a passing grade. The integrity of the program is sorely lacking.

I am just starting to get into UX.
I am working towards a Google certificate. My assumption is that experience is better than a certification but a certification is a good starting point.
