I hate to be a downer on this one but this seems *extremely* tough without an MBA transition:
-banks are in lay off mode, not hiring mode, meaning off-cycle will barely exist
-consultants/anyone not in banking struggles to get a look (even with your finance and accounting experience)
-there is tons of NA talent floating around due to the above, meaning hiring internationals is unnecessary, with all its complications
That said, I will do more than just set your expectations low:
-you will need to cast a wide net. BB/EB in NYC probably a tough sell - don’t exclude them, but look at MM, even LMM in T2/3 cities too
-you may need to look at some shoulder / less attractive groups first
-you will need to do a ton of networking; this probably won’t lead to the immediate opportunity, but you have to do it anyway
-consider IB opportunities that leverage your ME experience, or even break in there and then attempt the move to NA
Hi - names of firms easily searchable online.
PE will have similar challenges; you may do a bit better in that there is an established path MBB->PE, but that path has always been harder and less preferred by firms than the IB->PE path. MBB->PE value creation is an alternative, but value creation is less core and therefore under at least as much if not more pressure than deal teams (all the same issues about macro challenges and switching geos above apply)
