Hey guys. I have been applying to Amex for the past 1 year. Tried applying on the portal, through referrals and even hr consultants reached me regarding the roles since I have a relevant profile. But not once have I been shortlisted or called for an interview. What could be the problem?
PS: I have gotten calls from every other company for the same profile but not amex. Can't be a problem with the profile. Seems something dicey which I'm not aware of.American Express

Hi Fishes, Sometime back I was interviewed for Technical Support Job role in my domain. T1 went well. T2, in my understanding was better only (not great like T1 but not blunder. I felt it was nice and i replied majority of questions). They released the feedback after 10 days with "Not Positive". I am not totally sure with feedback as I replied majority of questions correct. I am being bit curious with "Microsoft" tag. What can be the reason?
Discussion appreciated.

Just got the VentureX. Previously had the Chase Sapphire Reserve but will downgrade to Sapphire Preferred with me getting the VentureX. They have pretty similar benefits but the annual cost is 395 compared to 550 for the reserve which is the biggest reason for my change plus I will also get access to the Capital One lounge at Dulles when it opens.
It’s between Venture X and Reserve. Reserve gets LyftPink and DoorDash+ included. Those two alone probably make up for the 200$ difference in annual fee. Both very similar just wanting some POV perspective
I have sapphire and its been worth it especially if you book travel related stuff on it both with points and just usual charges to earn points. I heard Amex also has something but with a $600 fee, more benefits and access to lounges
$200 annual credit for airlines, not $300.
NYT, not the WSJ.
They recently increased the fee on the business version. The Personal version is still $695.
Ended up getting Chase Reserve. Other perks like LyftPink and DD memberships made up for the higher annual fee. Appreciate all thoughts at the end of the day many cards are so close to being the same you can look all day trying to figure the perfect one
Congrats! I don’t think you’ll regret it.
Following! This is a good one thank you OP
One suggestion is to avoid going overboard with too many of these “premium” cards. I currently pay close to $3k/year in credit card fees. When I was traveling more, I was able to justify every annual fee for the benefits received, but that has gotten increasingly difficult to due as I now travel way less and find that the cards have overlapping features. I’m also finding that it more difficult to track and take advantage of small credits for things (dining, streaming etc). I’ve been meaning to trim back and cancel but just haven’t gotten around to it.
If you have a large amount of travel purchases that you can make on a personal card, one (or more) of these premium cards can make sense. Otherwise, there are some no annual fee cards with really good points earning/multipliers for categories like dining that will probably result in a better overall deal for you.
Good luck!
Generally downgrading is best for credit score purposes but at some point it becomes annoying to manage tons of open cards even if they don’t have fees
Capital one venture x will give you the most value for you’re $. I’d recommend trying it for a year. The chase reserve is also a great card but the sign up bonus is currently 50k versus the venture x’s 100k
I have to say, from experience with having both the CSR and Amex Platinum, go with what best suits you and your lifestyle. To me, the CSR is a really good card for points redemption on travel and they make their perks extremely easy to use. Amex is better for luxury lifestyle perks but you tend to have to jump through more hoops to extract the value.
Overall, I’d say the CSR is the better card for me. I will say I do love the Amex concierge line and customer service. The biggest factor for CSR being best was the priority pass still having the ability to use at various restaurants, while Amex did away with this perk (still have priority pass lounges though). Being out of Boston, there are no good priority pass lounges, so we used the access to go to a restaurant. The card allows you a $28 credit for yourself and a guest (so $56 total). Additionally, we added an authorized card, which is able to get their own priority pass and then your travel buddy has the same credit… meaning you could potentially get $112 worth of value. This may not be the case at your home base airport if they have a good lounge. For all the extra lifestyle perks, I don’t really count those into value I’m extracting if I wouldn’t normally use the service.
I know this doesn’t help with CSR vs Venture X directly, but maybe it can help with your thought process when comparing them and deciding what works best for you.
Venture x seems good right now as others have said.
I try to follow a few youtbubers that do card reviews.
