Soon transferring from an advisory role (financing, FDD, consultancy, modeling etc) at a small boutique firm to a TAS role at BDO. Main clients are lower MM and MM PE as well as listed corporates.
Anyone with insight who could advice how to play my cards to end up in either PE or CorpDev?

Skills-wise it feels like you could already make the jump to CorpDev, if you're comfortable with the higher level strategic thinking stuff (sounds like you're already across the detail-focused parts like modelling). Getting some exposure to the non-financial DD side (commercial, legal, SPA) would be something to think about working on. For the PE side I'd focus on networking with your current clients and sounding them out for a junior role based on your current experience.

I have a resume question!

I have 10 plus years of sales experience and 7 in an AE senior AE role however, when applying to positions that I know I am more than qualified for my resume is getting bot rejected before it even gets viewed. I am not sure why other than I do not have my b.a as I decided to pursue sales full time while in college and did not finish. This has not stopped me from getting interviews before , any ideas on how to get around the bots?

Why do corp dev roles for PE backed companies pay more than corp dev roles at corporations? Also, what’s the comp range you guys are seeing? I’m getting offers for 120K-140K and this just seems really low.

Wanted to get your advice/thoughts.

I'm a non-traditional CD analyst working in a niche industry (gambling)

My experience is as follows: BIG4 Audit > FP&A (CPG) > CD analyst (1 year)

I like my role (sourcing, modelling and strategy integration), however I don't see myself working in this industry long term. Without a generalist IB background, are my chances of transitioning over to a different Industry low? If so, is there anything I can learn or do (excluding IB)?

Thanks

I’ve spent 4 years in Big 4, with about half that time in FDD. I feel like Corp Dev is what I ultimately want, but am wondering if a stint in banking could be worth it. If I’m not interested in PE or other buyside alternatives, is the pit stop in IB worth it?
Mainly wonder if IB is a must have box to check, or if you can work your way up the ladder without.
