What’s your least favorite thing about your job?
Hello fishes,
I have a background in finance and 6+ YOE of professional work experience, I had to leave CA in between due to family emergency and started working (although only 1 group of CA final is left, 1 is cleared already), so can anyone provide an insight if being CA qualified is a mandatory requirement in EY and EY GDS in position of Manager in Accounting, auditing,FAAS,AWM teams etc
Would appreciate any insight, as seems HR everywhere just see degree and not the relevant work ex..

Who cares if quality work is getting done on time
Take a two hour lunch for all I care, just send me that sweet, sweet analysis. Managing by proxies like chat status is a fool’s game.
I'm the opposite, I'm a SC checking o. My M's status. That person is always away. And as soon as I take a break he pings me
People still use Skype??
Whatever platform... my whole point is most say they don’t but I doubt that’s the case. Seems hard to not even take a glance no?
My M said once he turns on status change notifications so that he can find out who is online or who is taking off early. Sick minds..
Lol.
I guess it's project dependent, but that can be an absolutely useless metric.
'Sorry, I was on the client network.'
'Sorry, I was in the dev environment.'
'Sorry, I was using my remote admin account.'

I literally only check it to see if someone is in a meeting or do not disturb so I know if I should wait to send a message. People who use online status as a proxy for productivity are poor managers.
Only time I do is if I want to talk to someone. If away or in a meeting, I will email rather than IM or call.
Change it to appear away and then reply when they ping you - now they’ll never know if you truly are away
Yeah, this works. There are people who have been away for 45+ days haha

I literally could care less. Let’s get the work done and get that Guap

Could care less unless the work isn’t getting down and I have trouble reaching someone frequently
@A3 - “should have” or “should’ve.” Also needed to be taught in schools more apparently.

I look at my team members' statuses...I wish most people on the team looked at mine.
Only check to see if on do not disturb or something like that so in those cases just email and follow up later. I know others who have status notifications on...one went as far as to ping me, then call me and say ‘your status has said away for x hours, are you working?’ And I responded, sure am, just don’t really care about Skype status to be honest...anyone who uses that as a proxy for productivity is just looking for reasons to ding the team.
If things are going well idgaf - if you’re not meeting expectations or the level of output is dropping then I’ll probably look whenever I think about it to see if you’re on. No alerts or anything.
I regularly appear offline or away so people don’t bug me so it isn’t really a great indicator.
Working in offline mode master race reporting in.

I don’t care. If you’re getting stuff done great. If I really need you I’ll call you. If you disappear regularly and you aren’t responsive otherwise then we have a problem (talking during agreed to working hours.)
Only if I’m looking for someone for a specific question. Otherwise I don’t have time to monitor people’s Skype. We all work at home. So there should be some level of expectation that some people may need to step away
Only if I need to ask something. If unavailable, will understand response will be delayed. If it’s urgent, I may text.
Yes if I need something or if the client can also see it then I monitor
No I don’t

I don’t as a manager, I usually just check in at the end of the week on progress sometimes at the end of the day. I honestly don’t care if you’re online or offline so long as your work is done on time, and you are willing to go above an beyond by helping out others on the team.
