For a consultant role: It likely won’t matter as much where you live as long as you have an airport nearby.
For a non-consulting role: Earlier in the pandemic, I was trying to change roles (I don’t live in Redmond) and was applying for jobs internally. I spoke with many hiring managers and the majority wanted me in Redmond if the job was posted in Redmond - it was frustrating to be told that over Teams, when everyone was working from their home offices. Now…I think you have a better shot. Many hiring managers realize that they have to adapt but there will be a few that are still clinging to the idea of an all in-person team once we can return to the office.
I say go for it! Win the team over and once they’ve gotten to know you a bit, then bring up the location thing.
