Mid year check in! Jan 1, 2021 someone posted asking what everyone’s net worth goals are. How’s everyone doing? My goal was 75k and it looks like at this rate I won’t reach it by EOY and I’m ok with that!

Honestly, I’m just trying to turn positive net worth given my student loans ($37K) and car loan ($15K). Currently at about a $10K net worth and I’m damn proud.

Now, I need to reduce my burn from eating out and buying unnecessary workout clothes. With me luck!

By automating, I mean setting up direct deposit so that in theory you never see the $.

29, goal is $100k net worth by EOY (only just broke a six figure salary this year). currently at $84k. started tracking total net worth back in march and was at $71k then, so think i’m making progress at a good pace!

My midyear goal was 215k and I already passed it on my most recent paycheck!

like

Nice job!

Trying for 500k, at 425 now. I definitely won't be saving 75k more so hoping for some market increases and crypto to bounce back

Yup USD

Currently at $280K NW @ age 26.

Goal was to go from $220K to $350K so I am roughly on track to hit my goal.

likeuplifting

Didn’t have a goal when I started this year, but calculated my NW and am at $980K. Confident I’ll surpass $1M NW by EOY. F / 30 YOA.

Just me. I have real estate investments (rental properties); 401K, investments, life insurance and savings. Most of it comes from savings; 401k; and real estate.

like

1/1/21 NW was 25k, goal for EOY was 50k. 6/11/21 NW is 48k, EOY 2021 goal 60k!

My goal was $200k (29). Tracking towards an aggressive goal of $225k due to a promotion. Excludes real estate and depreciating assets.

like

Congrats on the promo!

Was aiming for $500k by the end of the year, but actually just passed it, so I need to set new goals!

You’re doing great!

25. Currently at about 120. Have never set any goals with NW but will try to get to 160 by EOY

like

28. Goal was $294k to $400k. Currently on pace to exceed that in the next few months (~$380k), so will push that end goal up a bit.

like

Update: currently at $456k, might get up to $500k by year end assuming no correction, but fall back under after making estimated tax payments in Jan

Feel like such a loser, but how do you all calculate NW?

like

Yea. Except you have distinctly separate assets, household networth is what I’d recommend. Feel free to half

163k at 32. I had 6 figs in student debt so I think I’m doing pretty well! I paid off all my student debt earlier this year.

likeuplifting

We moved (info I didn’t have in Jan) so probably not going to hit that goal — but as long as I max my 401k and maintain or increase my monthly savings amt I’m gucci

like

Didn’t really have a goal other than to start building a nest egg. This year I’m finally maxing out all retirement vehicles and on track to hit 100k by year end. (26)

Found my reply to that post. I think we are on track to hit goal, maybe exceed depending on market.

Started the year at 100k with a goal of 200k by EOY. Sitting at about 150k now so should be able to meet it!

like

Exceeded financial goal now just need to maintain it. Still no new property tho since the market fired up since last posting

Goal is 800 nw; I probably won’t reach that by the end of the year, but it’s good to aim high.

I’m 34

Anyone ever have experience negotiating a new offer to include unvested 401k match and stock grants from your current employer? I hate leaving money on the table but there are some good roles out there. I’m not fully vested in my current 401k yet and my stock grants haven’t matured yet either. This would be at a global director level.

I’m in Dallas and have been renting for 5 years. I don’t have any savings, but have about 30k in my 401k. Im thinking about leveraging that to buy a condo/or house. Is that a good idea or am I in over my head? I mostly want to, because I’m tired of renting and I’ve read reports that prices will only continue to go up. Although, I will have to pay back the 401k + pay rent, so maybe not a good idea. Advice/resources would be helpful.

The Dow is an easier read. We broke the intermediate short down here at the lows. The dip into new lows serves as a sling shot to take the market higher. Dow HWB long is 25221, down from the close of 25398. Use this weakness to load up for a massive rally that should take us back to the 26300 level for the longer term HWB short.

Ally bank dropping rates again. CD a good choice?

Hi all, I am trying to DCA bi-weekly into Vanguard ETFs, (VO, VTI etc). It seems like Fidelity does not support auto buying of non-Fidelity ETFs. So I was wondering which of these options you think is best?

1. Open a Vanguard Invest account
2. Look for Fidelity ETFs that are similar to Vanguard ETFs
3. Use smaller brokerages like SoFi l, Robinhood etc.

I really do not want to manage nor be active. My goal is to log-in like once every 6 months.

Thank you all.

Is it too late in our lives to jump into a mortgage?

So my fiancée and I are relatively late in terms of finally landing well paying jobs and being able to save money instead of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re both 36 and currently rent a 2 bedroom in NY and have a combined savings of $35,000 which she wants to use as a down payment on a condo. I kinda just wanna continue saving while renting. I also literally just started contributing to my 401K so I’m also late in the game for that too.

When investing in a Vanguard Roth IRA, can you only invest into the Fed Money Market Fund (VMFXX) which is default? Or can you select other funds such as S&P (VOO)?

Okay finance gurus, I have an idea and interested in your thoughts. Might be a bad one so be gentle 🙂. I have a 2 yr old and another on the way. Need to start planning for college. I was thinking of buying a condo or 2 in lieu of saving and selling them down the line for tuition. Condos downtown are pretty inexpensive (T3) so it’s financially feasible. But is this a good idea or too risky?
