Advice needed - boyfriend has almost 3.5 years of finance experience at a bank. Interviewed for PwC valuation senior associate and now recruiter says they want to hire him at “experienced associate” because he has no valuation experience. Is this too big of a step backwards in career? Should he push back and see if it gets him anywhere? If he does accept Associate, is it reasonable to ask for written, definitive timeline (1 year?) for promo to Senior upon meeting standards? Help!

I would still put on my resume that I worked a full year if it’s only 2 weeks to make a full year
Are you putting exact dates on your resume? If you are, I would be putting month and year only. 2 extra weeks to get you to the end of this month shouldn't make a difference in that scenario.

What do you honestly think...?
Yes i am sure. I would like to try it
It doesn’t matter
Friend, you were laid off and you want to give them two weeks of labor for free?
Talk about Stockholm Syndrome…this is next level
Pro
Just put the months.
Every prospective employer will say something like, “so you were there for a year.” This (11vs 12 months) is a non-issue.
Doesn’t hurt to ask but they probably won’t. I only put month/year on resume and applications.
Put on your resume that you worked the full year, same with LinkedIn. One one will know! Good luck with the journey!
If you get severance, your last day is when the severance ends, not when you walk out the door.
Good luck. The more I see your comments the more all this all is making sense. Put a year, or don’t. Regardless a recruiter will absolutely not care. Unless of course you have 4-5 jobs on that resume with a year each. Then the 2 weeks is the least of your issues
Honestly just say u work there on ur res till u get a new job!
Literally just put 12 months

Don't ask. Just put month and year of start date and end date on your resume
You assume they care about you… and you know what they say about assumptions
I only remember the month I started and ended. I never remember the exact date 😀
Check your entire resume for useless information, this fits into that category and may indicate a pattern.
Who cares 11 mo or 12 mo=1yr? Your prospective employers will not know. After 5 -6 yrs even you will forget. After 10-15yrs this job most likely will disappear from your resume, bc other jobs will be there
This request is indeed a bit special, but if you can make it in the right way, you may have a chance to get a positive response. Here are some tips to help you make this request better:
1. **Clear reasons**: When communicating with the HR department, explain the specific reasons why you want to extend your working time, especially why it is important for you to show a full year on your resume. You can emphasize the significance of this year to your career development and how it will help you find a new job in the future.
2. **Express gratitude**: When making the request, express your gratitude to the company and your love for the team, and explain that you hope to contribute as much as possible to the company, and even help complete some unfinished work tasks before leaving.
3. **Stay professional**: Even if you have been fired, you should remain professional and polite. When making the request, do not show any complaints or dissatisfaction, but discuss it in a positive manner.
4. **Propose a specific plan**: Provide a specific plan for what tasks you plan to complete during the extended two weeks. This can show that you are still committed to your work and concerned about the interests of the company.
5. **Be prepared to accept different results**: The company may have its own considerations and restrictions and may not approve your request. Before making a request, make sure you have other plans in place.
For example, you could write an email like this:
---
**Subject: Request for Extended Hours**
Dear [HR Manager's Name],
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to make a small request regarding my departure date. As I am about to complete my one-year tenure with the company, I would like to extend my departure date by two weeks, which would extend my tenure from 11 months to a full year.
This adjustment is very important to me as it will have a positive impact on my future career. During this time, I am willing to continue to do my best to complete all tasks and help the company make a smooth transition.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to work at [Company Name] and hope to contribute more to the company before leaving. Please consider my request and let me know if it is possible to arrange such an adjustment.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
