Hello fishes. Need your suggestions. I have worked at Accenture for 2 yrs as a software developer and due to interest in core side, took training in Rv-Vlsi and placed in capgemini as PHYSICAL DESIGN ENGINEER . And it's been 9 months, I didn't get any project. I am much frustrated as I am wasting my imp time. I'm regretting now of leaving Accenture :( Can you give me suggestions on what to learn in this free time? Intel Corporation Qualcomm MediaTek Synopsys Inc. Advanced Micro Devices Inc.

Depends on the route. On a high level you can go the analytics route and get certified in Alteryx, Power BI, Azure, etc., while the data warehousing side you can go azure, SnowFlake, AWS.
For general certifications I always recommmend ITIL (easy and explains IT as a service)
Or you can even go the more subjective route of data governance/strategy where you are taking compliance, regulations, business continuity and growth, and applying your knowledge of data on how to remediate or enhance the above.
This is very high level/not the whole story but good luck!
Thx ☺️
So no certification is going to un-stall your career IMO. It has to be driven by genuine interest in becoming good/ well-versed in something.
You have had immense opportunities in your prior and current role to delve into what the actual data practitioners are doing and why, and how. And it’s okay that you’re only just now recognizing you don’t actually know how any of it works. But start meaningfully engaging and asking questions about what they do. Think about it and act on it during off-hours, on Saturday mornings. You have to like.. care.. about whatever it is you’re trying to learn. All just my perspective
Agree with all of the above, and if you do decide to get certs… gain the expertise first. Do not think that a cert gives you expertise or assume it will teach you anything of substance.
I would prefer to hire someone that has passion and genuine interest in a subject over someone who wants to tell me about a nifty cert they have, when I know the words left unsaid are “I got this cert because I didn’t know what else to do”. Get the cert after the fact. If you can talk shop, it’s irrelevant. I can sell someone with genuine expertise and passion to a client, I won’t sell someone who has a cert but I think is empty besides the crappy acronym the cert carries. Admittedly, if you have both and the client values that cert, it’s a slam dunk for me.
Pick a cloud service provider (AWS/Azure). They have specialty certification paths for data practitioners. AWS for example, you start with a high-level associate architect certification and then take up the data specialty one.
Additionally you could look into Databricks data engineering certifications as well (or Snowflake depending on your interest and opportunities in vicinity).
Commenting to follow. In a similar boat. Have been looking at Azure /AWS data engineering certs but not sure if they’re worth
My thought is with azure you can get your base certifications, which can then easily build to certifications in Synapse and Fabric.
Cheap way to learn a bit about the tools (and get CPE) is through pluralsight
Another thing nobody discussed is how would you truly rate YOUR YOE, like I also have 8 yoe but really just 6 doing data analysis, 5 doing pm, 2 in change management.
So be fair in your assessment and you can identify gaps in roles that look for a number for yoe.
If you stick to one project for long time, you will pick up good amount of skills to be a master. If you are not good enough, you will never be a master of any. Sometimes it’s luck! Choose your projects wisely. In consulting sometimes you need to go 20 miles extra to prove your credibility, get some scars. But eventually consulting gives you way better skill sets than regular orgs.
I don’t know which certification? So many ….. I am thinking get a job first then pick the certification
Is that fair to assume?
When in doubt, DAMA and read the entirety of DMBoK! Because nobody wants to read bland, dry toast, so you will be one of the few who has it and also likely the stamina for War and Peace.
