My company’s compensation conversations happen in July, would now be a good time to have a discussion on salary? Last year I got a 1.5% increase… I’m worried they’ll push back with things like this isn’t a great year again. How can I really advocate for myself to get the salary adjustment? I don’t really want to switch companies

If they have no incentive to give you a raise, they aren't going to give you a raise. Since it's an employers market, they know you aren't likely to leave and even if you did, they could easily replace you. However, I do respectfully disagree with the person who said you should use an offer letter from another company as leverage. Accepting a counteroffer from a current company rarely ends well. They know at that point that you are not loyal and you will be a target for layoffs. Make your case by demonstrating market value and your accomplishments at the company, but your choice may come down to accepting what they offer or leaving.

Is 1.5 normal for your company?

We have sales people in Canada and the US, the Canadians make 150K CAD and down here it’s 150K USD, the Canadians argue they should be making 30% more than the US colleagues to be equal bc of the exchange! I explain the salary is dependent on the market data for them in Canada, WHERE THEY LIVE, and you can’t compare it to the US employees and the market data down here. Overall they are both in the 75th% for total comp. for their industry. Am I wrong?

Given all the recent buzz about expected large raises around the big 4, I’d like to level set on the average salary for a 4th/5th year female senior manager in federal tax ( credits & methods group) in the Midwest - Chicago/Minneapolis/Detroit market. Anyone willing to share a range if they work in a similar area of tax / similar level? I recognize all groups vary greatly in salary expectations, so looking for input specific to my area. Current expectations set at 140-160k. Reasonable?

I’ve been approached my by company that one of our large clients (who im currently project managing for) is looking for a consultant of sorts, and if they hire us, I’d be the first person asked to take on this consultant role. If so, were you able to negotiate a percentage of the consulting fee? Or was it a bump in salary during the project?

Hi All! Looking for some advice. I am a manager a country club but I do everything. I’m in charge of outside events and member events, in charge of the front of house staff, scheduling, ordering and membership sales for the club. I feel I am very underpaid at $45k. I do get commission but it’s very low ($10k give or take for the year). I work 6/7 days a week sometimes 10+ hrs/day. I’ve been researching salaries to be able to negotiate higher pay. I want to ask for $60k-is this reasonable?

Cash bonuses, raises, profit-sharing, company equity, 401k match, etc.

If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?
