My manager accused me of not being proactive enough, in reality I have been trying my best to make my self available and reaching out constantly. The team lead is unresponsive; my manager keeps saying that I should’ve brought up the issue to him earlier so he could help me. But when I challenge the issues, he implies that I am the issue. Currently in the process of planning to leave this team, should I confront to him that he is the issue.

So, I just fired my first employee as a manager and I'm heartbroken. He was a great, great person but after 6 months on a PIP he just wasn't cutting it skills-wise. I know he was the provider of the household and his wife didn't have a job since she was raising three young ones. Needless to say, I had to take off because I felt terrible, sick to my stomach. How do you deal with firing guilt? Is that a thing? I can't help but feeling like I did something wrong.

I started a new job as an “office manager” at the end of January. The duties seem to align more with those of an EA, and I’m ok with that. Except my boss is a control freak. So I have family situation I've been dealing with and yesterday at a company function outside the office, my supervisor brought it up in front of a bunch of people. First of all highly inappropriate, but also it's nobody's business. She's made comments before outside of work about how her boss is gay, blah blah blah. I'm just at a loss. Should I report it to HR? Have you seen women wear ties and "masculine"-looking suits to work? Was it accepted by client and team? I've never worn a tie to work, but when I've worn clothing that had a more "masculine" fit either in grad school or some work environments, I've gotten comments and looks, or sometimes asked (or people gossiped) about my orientation. I have a CD that gets extremely flustered when you ask them for their opinion on a solution. For example after showing them multiple color pallets and CD not quite liking any of them (real Goldie locks moment) i suggested why not we do (fill in three colors here), the CD freezes up and gets annoyed because they don’t want to say yes or no without seeing it in front of them.
