I haven't got any cause to complain about that. If things get hectic, we all tend to be involved. Of course, it cuts both ways, sometimes when managers step in and get involved it can come off as micromanaging. But at least they're present.
Those kinds of people drive me insane OP. Thankfully I have a really great manager and if she says all hands on deck, that includes both of her hands and her feet. She would never throw us to the wolves like that. I hate management that disappear when they are needed like that.
I had one that left it up to me and another coworker to set up for a big meeting the following day. We stayed after work to set up the room, put out the swag etc. The following morning he came down and didn't like how it was set up and was physically moving tables and chairs around as the attendees started to show up. i was livid after staying late and all the work we put into it. I did not help move things. If he had been there the previous night and seen something, we would have had not wasted time and gotten it how he wanted it the first-time around.
Best practice is to leave. If HR doesn’t listen or he’ll, leave. My workplace compartmentalize positions. So HR is just the ceo herself and she makes it her mission to fire anyone who speaks up against toxic management. Management that steals items, gift card and more donations meant for the poor and needy.
