Glad you’re getting a little bit of a break.
Social anxiety used to be my worst problem and it’s not a lot of fun.
Hope you can avoid the alcohol over the holiday if you can.
Alcohol is a CNS depressant… so when that’s taken out of the equation things like social anxiety spike because your brain is in a state of hyper-arousal… it goes away after a while… but it may be replaced with chronic boredom, emotional deregulation, and disassociation…
Good for you to get ahead of it and trying to get it under control on your own…
don’t have much advice but sending you strength and love this holiday season. you got this ❤️
Social anxiety is the worst, imo. It was never talked about whenI was growing up, so when I was in my 20s and going to parties I never knew the name to how I felt. It was social anxiety and it hit hard when I was in big groups/gatherings. I always wondered what was wrong with me, little did I know
Being near family and good friends always helps me feel more comfortable. I’m at peace in my own skin when I’m with family or/and the few close friends I have. I think I’ve turned into an introvert too lol
Remember, intense impulses or cravings last around 7 seconds. If you can get up out of your seat or find a quick brain disruption when the urge or impulse hits it might help. Take a short walk, like get up and move or even pace for 15-30 seconds, or dance, or engage in chair exercises or calisthenics. Sounds ridiculous but find something to interrupt those unpredictable urges and impulses. Something that works consistently for you. You got this! 💪🏼
Love this. I keep a smallish dumbbell next to me and when I feel restless, I just lift it and do a few different exercises. It's been really helpful and I always feel better after a few minutes
