Poll Question: which consultant would you rather staff or hire and why? A. Consultant who has worked with the same client for two straight years, above target utilization. B. Consultant who has worked with 8 different clients over two years, above target utilization.
My 4 YO takes riding lessons at a small barn outside of the city. I hopped on a horse there recently for old time's sake, but haven't really ridden in years. A casualty of the legal profession, along with the rest of my hobbies from my former country life. His instructor asked me if I'd be willing to get back in the saddle. Part of me is like, this is the change I need. It will help me lose this COVID-15lbs. But I'm also terrified and I have no idea why. (cont)
Tips for consolidating credit cards ? I use at least 4 cards, it's hard to stay on top of the deadlines for payments and utilization. I use Mint and Mint Bills currently.
I have patients that are continuing to work despite testing positive for covid. So hard to see these people choose between poverty and eviction and taking the precautions they know are right
When do utilization rates reset at PwC?
I really hope any stunts capitalizing on Covid will not be allowed to win awards next year...
"Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who opposes vaccine and mask mandates, tests positive for COVID-19" No thoughts. No prayers. https://news.yahoo.com/texas-gov-greg-abbott-who-opposes-vaccine-and-mask-mandates-tests-positive-for-covid-19-211349823.html
What are firms utilization and sales expectations for manager? My sales for first year manager is 1m and utilization is 70%. Is this generally normal, lenient, or aggressive? I’m at a small boutique ~100 people
I am scared of returning to my empty classroom that sits in a covid hotspot. Its all I want to focus on but I can't...so many great things happened during the spring and summer and they never got celebrated. There's no time like the present! Let's drop the negative, mind numbing complaints (speaking to myself) and grow & glow through it
As a new consultant... How attainable is the utilization goal in general? I know there are several factors but high level: do most people hit it?
Just found out that my SO is going camping this weekend and I am SO EXCITED to have the house all to myself this weekend 😂. Covid has given us wayy too much forced time together 🙈
Consider a new pandemic, at what % fatality rate do you think vaccines will mandated by law for all citizens? This is not the last pandemic society will face. COVID has a low death rate compared to Ebola for example. What % fatality rate would it take for governments around the world including the US to legally require mandatory vaccinations of all citizens? Would it be 10%? 20? 50%? fatality rate? Or will we never mandate vaccines in lieu of personal freedom?
I joined the team less than a year ago and have been finding it difficult to meet people outside of my team/billable projects during covid. I'm new to consulting and want to meet people outside of my team and learn about their experiences. I've attempted to schedule coffee talks/intro chats with colleagues and joined different groups. What more can I do to stay connected? How do you engage with your broader team?
Are utilization targets strict at every consulting firm? I know we complain a lot at Deloitte but I’m not sure if it’s the same everywhere
My utilization is below 60 percent and it's majority of internal projects and trainings but have good snapshots(reviews) should I still be concerned ?
I know there has been similar discussion here recently, but how is WSGR PA Corporate's culture? I've been perusing forums and hear really conflicting accounts with some people saying that it's horrible, while others saying it's good. Also, there was talk on people leaving WSGR en masse to other firms (especially Cooly) and WSGR not being in the best place (although that was pre-covid and I guess things might have changed since then). Is it true that WSGR is/was declining?
Anyone have a contact at Publicis Seattle? I’d love to intern there this Summer for Strategy.
Anyone else get stuck at city of client for weekend due to northeast flight cancellations?
Hi All— Happy Juneteenth! I got approached about a VP Corp Comms role in NY. This would mean leaving consulting. What do you think is a good asking price in terms of salary?
Not so much a meme, but I was parked behind this car. I wonder if this guy doesnt really own a business and thinks a personalized plate with "WRTEOFF" and "Section 179" written in the dirt makes this Jeep Grand Cherokee an "Ordinary and Necessary Business Expense"
Do firms honor online MBAs for the increase in compensation? I've been in consulting for a year and I'm considering online programs bc MBAs get paid significantly more (although we do the same work). Thoughts?
If you were looking to exit Big 4 Consulting, what positions would you be targeting? I have done a little of everything with no specialization (great performance reviews across the board). But now a little unsure of what my skills really are from an employer POV.
I am currently working as Senior Consultant in my current firm and just got an offer from Deloitte UK and Version1 for HCM Cloud practice. Version1 pays more (75k basic + quarterly profit share) and has good employee centric policies where else Deloitte has 60k basic + 5100 in flex benefits and no clarity on bonus. The only reason why I wanted Deloitte was for the exposure but is it really worth it? Considering the work life balance may not be as great here as well. Will appreciate any help
Was looking on vault.com rankings and for work life balance MBB was 10, 13, and 15 with big 4 to be found nowhere in the top 25. I always thought mbb worked worse hours than us big 4 guys?
On my first PMO project. I feel like a babysitter telling the kids to do their homework. Is this what PMO is? Companies hiring consultants to babysit their employees?
Updating resume for exits, any downside to calling client for one project “auto parts manufacturer” and another “automotive marketer” if they were really just two departments in one company?
Has anyone noticed that busy season is changing into a marathon, not a sprint? I’m working close to 60 billable hours/week year round, and 70+ Feb - April. Is this a bigger trend?
What level would an M1 at ACN translate to at MBB, particularly McK? And what would the comp look like?
DM me if you want a McKinsey referral. Let me know what position and how many years of experience you have.
Can you get points and Platinum benefits for your stay if you get a Marriott using Hotwire?

For folks who worked/lived in a foreign country, why did you leave your country? What are the benefits of working globally career-wise? Would you recommend doing it to a consultant at the early stage of his/her career?
