I am a Sr PM that left a big agency to go small shop and I hate it. I interviewed at another big agency and they are hiring for a PM level, with same salary I make as a Sr.

They say their max is XX, but I need 5k additional to cover for benefits, since my currently job pays 100% and that would make a difference that I cannot afford.

Would you try to negotiate 5k even though they said their max was that number ?

If so, at what time should I try to negotiate?
