God’s timing is always right, He is never early and never late. You need to learn how to trust Him, and if you are struggling with that, it’s okay to ask Him to help you trust in Him.
Baptism is your marriage ceremony, you’re committing to follow Jesus when things are good and bad. Following God doesn’t mean your life is going to be easy and you’ll always have what you want. When life is hard, you have Him to go to and He will give you the peace and wisdom on how to get through it.
Are you not a Christian anymore? No reason to not get baptized unless you actively do not love and believe in Jesus
I was born and raised Baptist, never baptized. I love the Lord, just don’t want to turn over a new page in my journey with negativity in my heart.
Thanks guys, after hearing your responses, and talking to a few people in my life. I am going to go ahead with the baptism, I recognize that the baptism is a sign of purifying and becoming new again within Christ. We aren’t perfect, and I think everybody questions at some point, “Why God?”
But at the end of the day; I know he has a plan for everything, I believe in my heart, mind, and most importantly soul, that Jesus died to save me and all of us from our sins. There’s no question about that!
Awesome to hear, all the best!! God bless!
Baptism represents purification, cleansing a dying to yourself, your flesh, sins etc uniting with Christ in His death and resurrection you get to take part in a symbolic rebirth, revival into your new life. Water baptism and Holy Spirit baptism are different not sure if you've been spiritually born again but its not the same as a physical water baptism and only one is required both are strongly encouraged as Jesus Himself was baptised and urges us to baptise others (Read Acts 19, John 3, Matthew 28).
Your baptism and faith are far bigger than your temporary feelings, zoom out waaay out, don't focus too much on current situations and try to look through the lens of the everlasting King of kings who has been faithful through all the ages. He sees you and loves you and regardless of what you decide He still offers you eternal life in Him through His Son Jesus Christ. I encourage you to pray to God fully surrender this decision, your career/finances, and your will to Him.
I would go through with the baptism. Read the story of Job. Job was angry with God but he didn’t denounce or curse God. I think you should read that story and think through all he went through. I think we have this perspective that God is always going to make good stuff happen for us. Our relationship with God changes our perspective and how we see the world first and then our actions follow. That doesn’t mean we won’t face issues or turmoil though.
Review the baptismal promises you will be making. If you don’t believe in them or can’t say them wholeheartedly at this moment, by all means postpone. There’s no harm in waiting.
Also based on what you said, maybe take some time to reflect on your beliefs. I’m not sure what you think having a relationship with God means, but God is not Santa Claus. God gives us what we need, not what we want.
That is why in the thanksgiving prayer we thank God concerning every condition and in whatever condition. Keep praying and pray that it aligns with His will. Axios Axios Axios! (worthy! Worthy! Worthy!) - it’s what we say for the baptism in a part of the orthodox hymnology.
Praise the Lord for God is good! Your baptism is a recognition that you believe Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. That God sent His son to live life with us, sacrifice himself to die a painful death, but rise again so that we may live forever in His presence. God has a plan for you and have faith that the best is yet to come for you. Amen!
