Hi Google - I am requesting guidance!
I am prepping for my interview specifically GCA and open ended questions. I struggle to tell if the outcome should be talking through your process/steps (maybe for a question like - how would you go about determining program complexity) vs a specific solution such as create x new product, for x market by x date based on my assumptions. Is the desired outcome something I can clarify with the interviewer?
I agree wholeheartedly:

Read over your travel policy…you may be able to upgrade based on the length of the flight
Are you allowed to pay for the upgrade yourself? May be worth it?

Usually companies send you business class. But if it has to be economy then just tell them you can’t travel due to health reasons. They can’t make you go or fire you over it.
Coach
The last company I worked for sent everyone economy class, no matter where the destination was and no matter what your position was.
Ask for accommodation based on medical reassons. Bring a note from your doctor that confirms your back issue and that you are unable to do a 12 hr in economy.
This is the answer- get an ADA accommodation ASAP if possible so it’s on file moving forward too. Your HR team should be able to tell you the process
Get a note from your physician with accommodations needed. They’ll be required to follow. Otherwise, yeah, you’re going to look fussy.
I think it's really about how you raise the topic and how heard you might feel there. Is this the norm? Have they ever had others fly long flights 12+ ( or whatever you want to add as a qualifier) in economy? I seriously doubt that's the case, so start there because every person should be treated the same. Good luck. There's no harm in asking questions IMO.
What are the other options and what is the cost difference? Maybe start by thinking how you should be flying and then propose a plan. Are you thinking you should be in first class or business? And aren’t international flights more roomie?
Coach
They are not more roomie for economy class. No flight is more roomie for economy. It’s all the same.
Agree with all of the above. It’s a red flag for me that they don’t have business class as standard for anything over 6 hours.
Agree
In addition to the physician note and the ADA.
Offer them a couple of suggestions like Can you have them go 50/50? They pay for the economy rate and then you pay the higher level for the ticket?
A 24- hour ticket for me makes me want to just buy the business or first class ticket. Regardless if it gets refunded. But that is me.
Yes. Thank you
Coach
Hell no. Ask for accommodations bc of medical concerns. Get a note from your doctor. I would either not go or pay my own upgrade if their refused but not sure if either is an option for you.
Agree. TY
