New to agency side as a jr producer and am looking for input/advice on what I should do with my career...

Working in ads as I'm not a trustie and need to pay rent, but I really want to direct features (and ads to pay rent.) Curious if I can parlay agency producer experience for directing commercials? Assuming I build a good reel making shorts and spec ads, could this work?

I also am wondering if it's worth trying to pivot to a creative role? Seems more interesting than producing long-term.

We’re in such a vicious business. You give your heart & soul to an agency, a client, a brand. Then the wind changes & you’re laid off, reassigned, chewed up, spit out, on to the next. I’m tired.

Had my review (it was good) and manager says that they’ve put me up for promotion/raise saying that there’s no guarantee / not sure if it will get approved — wondering what that means? 🤔 (I’ve been at the company ~2 yrs without any raise/bonuses)

I got a verbal offer from a WPP agency today. The role's budgeted salary is 5k less than my desired salary.
The recruiter can get me closer but still not at my desired salary. Otherwise - it would have to go through a long approval process with no guarantee that the salary would even be OK'd.
I'm coming from a small agency, so I could be wrong - but I don't want to sell myself short by accepting the first salary they offer. Do I have any room to negotiate? Or is that risky?
