Offer from EY for a promotion, but also am up for promotion with Deloitte and likely will get it, but not in effect until June ‘23 and can’t imagine comp bump will match current EY offer. What to do?

Take the offer, you're promo isn't guaranteed

Option 1. Take the offer.
Option 2. Ask Deloitte for an immediate promo and retention raise.

Those are the main 2 options. 2 is unlikely to be successful in this environment with low or normal attrition unless you're an absolute rock star, so it might be worth picking Option 1 and being done with it.

Staying at D will have better long term outcomes as you already have the network.

If you’re coming in as a M, then you’d have much more difficulty setting up the network for the next role jump.

A wise man once told me- don’t look at the role that’s right infront of you, look at how you can go for the role after that one.

I’d OP was SM, I’d agree. But at M, I think it’s common enough to boomerang. After 2020, everyone at Deloitte left anyway

Big law specialist with an offer to be the CFO and GC of a 250M AUM hedge fund. All in comp would probably be ~$300k, so about $100k less than where I would be in big law (including bonus). Potential to get involved in the business side, but most likely more of a back office role (I would also be the only legal hire - main goal would be cutting outside legal cost and streamlining processes). Does this sound like an attractive offer? What exit options would I have?

hey, I joined Deloitte in June 2020 as an GPS SA analyst, I just staffed on internal project only providing me adjusted utilization. Now my standard util is 40 and my adjusted is 105... and this project last in another month... by then my standard util might be 20.. will my promotion be affected by this? My target promotion year on TOD is 2022. My manager said we might sell to client and extend this project in September but nothing guaranteed.

Pros:

- fairly decent place to work (from someone who worked with the Vancouver and San Jose offices). never met a blue badger (permanent employee) who had awful things to say.

- Ashley Goodall (their SVP, Methods & Intelligence) co-authored a brilliant book on leadership and people management called “Nine Lies About Work” that makes me believe they can be an awesome place to work

Cons:

- red badgers had low morale since they’re contract workers and can be terminated at any time
