Ok. Want some advice. I took a PgM role at a cool start up a few months back. Role is goodish (40-45 hours) and comp is decent for the hours worked. I’m struggling trying to figure out where I go after this because post IPO or buy out this role will very quickly lose value within the company and I’d likely be part of a RIF. So want to know how someone could spin a PgM role to get back into consulting say within 18months of leaving?

Is it true new partners at PwC are making 550-600k? Are there big differences in Partner Comp between Big Four?

Senior engineer making 135k and I was offered a promotion to engineering manager after completing a development plan. Near the end of the plan and I expect compensation talks to start soon. Based on some research around Boston and my role in the company, I feel 165k plus 10-15% bonus is fair. Nonetheless, first time going through something like this and asking for thoughts and comments. At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). looking for advice for my partner who is a data scientist at an ad agency in NYC. He had been working 70+ hours a week on a project that fell apart while he was on vacation due to it being passed to a junior person who didn’t understand it, and he got blamed. Afterward he said he was burnt out to his manager and then was fired a week or so later, even though the project recovered. Is there grounds here for wrongful termination? How does he argue for more severance?

If you are on a billable project but happen to have a day we’re you aren’t asked to do much, do you still bill the 8 hours for being on call. Or do you only bill the 1–2 hours you work that day on client work? Less than 1 YOE. Curious on your thoughts on billing 8 hours a day even if you don’t necessarily work the whole time. Is this something you have done? I also under stand that billing less than what you work is not ideal, “eating hours.” But what about billing more than you “actually” work

A recruiter at another B4 gave me a number much lower than what I’m currently making. Should I tell them how much im making now, which is admittantly at the very top of the SC band, or counter with a range that’s more than I’m making? I hesitate to just throw out current salary + 20% bc I’d be asking for almost $190k for a SC role and I know that would be quite a huge ask for a SC @ B4, even for tech

Is it worth going to Wharton (or any M7, for that matter) for MBA? Got a deferred acceptance, but now am reconsidering due to opportunity cost, and I’m skeptical that it would help me get somewhere I otherwise couldn’t.

Part of the reason why I applied in the first place was to shut my parents up about me not going to a top school 🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤣
