Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

Just went through this process recently, around half the cases were financial services related but they were general enough you can do well through applying the same logic you do to any case (I had 1 case first round and 4 cases final round, with 2 of the final cases being presentation style where you have time to make a deck/do research)
Feel free to do so!
It will probably be something on that line, yes
Back when I did mine I was a entry level straight out of undergrad and had 4 out of 5 interviews (2 rounds with 2 interviews + one additional interview) with cases related to financial services.
For an experience hire that's joining with a given background, I'd be very surprised if there wasn't anything related to our biggest practice - specially if you already have some background on it
I'm more of a fan that if you prepare for a general case you're good for a specific one - aka I don't think you should focus on practice only FS cases (but a couple won't hurt).
But it can also be a good thing to do to read things related to FS that were in the news recently (like digital payments)
My first round case was not industry specific. Just business overall and straightforward. Next two cases were healthcare specific since I’m in HLS
Hey! I have my first round coming up. Would really appreciate any insight into what to expect ?
