It’s not useless - it gets you onto the upgrade list for award tickets! cheapest way to get domestic upgrades for award travel :)
Valid point Bcg1, I scored a domestic upgrade on a Dreamliner once that way. My award miles spending habits are usually on international tickets or for other people now. I prefer to use CSR or cash to buy my own tickets since I'm marching towards Million miler status
Yes. MPE is useless with status
@D1 how is the redemption with United for award tickets? Is it 1:1?
For CSP/CSR? You can transfer to united as 1:1 since they are transfer partners. Or you can redeem for revenue tickets via chase portal at 1.25 or 1.5 for CSP/CSR
Yes, 1:1. Yes, MPE is useless with status outside of two lounge passes
Bcg1, no arguments there. But you are lower in priority than any paid fare within same status class. And no companion award upgrade. Frequency of using domestic awards is so low for me it wasn't worth keeping.
True, but if you have 1K or Plat, you’re already above most travelers, so while you’re behind other fare classes, it’s similar to buying a non-ref fare with regular status.
Totally agree! Same, but for the 2-3 legs I score a year, might as well keep it. Try calling to waive the fee - they’ll usually be pretty reasonable about it.
