Only 3 interviews in the last 5 months. I can't go on like this and really need something to change. What can I do better to get more interviews, and more importantly, get the job? Is the market really that bad right now? I'm 45 and my whole family depends on me. It's such a tough place to be, and I'm scared I'm starting to lose hope. Please share your tips or advice. I'm located in NY, happy to get suggestions of where I can apply to!

Your resume needs to be very numbers-driven. Show exactly how much you sold, how you beat quota, or how you expanded accounts. Recruiters skim for impact. If you’re applying for a BDR, AE, or CSM role, highlight how you brought in revenue, not just managed a pipeline. Also, at 45, you bring a level of experience and people skills most 25-year-olds can’t touch. Don’t downplay that. Position yourself as the steady, reliable closer or relationship builder who can navigate tough markets because you’ve done it before.

The job market is tough right now (especially in sales) but not hopeless! What's your resume look like?Make sure it has measurable wins on there (i.e. quotas hit, deals closed). I'm sure you have a great network you could leverage as well. Dip into it! Warm intros work great. You got this!

Numbers on the resume, networking, casting a bigger net in the job search, maybe getting into something lateral in the meantime. It is difficult right now, you’ll hear that 100 times over. Just have to put yourself in the best position possible and keep trying.

Even without LinkedIn, I see a lot of people younger than me in much better roles. They started off with relevant jobs right out of college. I graduated in 2009 when the economy tanked and worked in retail for years before I was finally able to land in corporate. Does anybody else struggle with this as well? I’m constantly comparing myself to others who are younger than me.

I had a job interview for a role that I really want. The hiring manager scheduled me for an interview and did not show up. Emailed me an hour later stating that he got super busy and couldn’t attend, and would like to reschedule.
