I'm having difficulties connecting with my team over Zoom, and I'm feeling lonely. Anyone else?

Is anyone else returning to fully in person learning? We have been hybrid/synchronous since September, which has been very hard and not very effective. They want us to have all Kindergarten students come back in March. I want to stop live teaching over google meet all day while also teaching my students in person at the same time, but there is not enough space in my classroom for safe distancing, not enough space for movement, and sitting at a desk all day is not appropriate for K kids!

I will be teaching Chemistry this year in a modular classroom with no lab area. Any suggestions on virtual labs? We have chromebooks at ourvschool.

How do you show God’s love in the classroom?

I was recently offered a Zoom interview. The school had 10 interview slots for me to choose from. Three were one day this week and the rest are next week. I chose the first time slot available. Should I have waited until one of the last slots so I was fresher on their mind when choosing a candidate? I am just sitting here stressing out until I here something. Also, do interviewers still appreciate a hand written thank you for the interview?

Are forums dying out? Are they still worth developing for a new community, or would you go straight to Discord/Slack?

I can manage my classroom better if I don’t respond to emails outside of office hours. This gives my mind a break and by consequence refreshes me for the next day. It also sets a boundary.

I’m thinking about moving up to a high school English position from 8th grade English. Mainly I’m looking for a change. Any thoughts on the differences I’d be facing?

I have high school children of my own, but disciplining high schoolers has always intimidated me for some reason. I have excellent classroom management, but I feel like high schoolers are a little smarter ab getting around rules and less worried about consequences.

I’m told by an hs tchr that the grading load is ab the same.

If I get an offer and company asks for confirmation and after giving confirmation I get another offer while serving notice period and I choose second offer in that case will there be any complications? Please suggest

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it more advantageous to have low housing prices and higher interest rate? If that's the case, you can always refinance when/if the interest rate lowers again. Is there something I'm not seeing?

I'm under contract for a new build in progress that won't be done until much later this year. I fully expect interest rates will be higher than what I originally estimated. I may or may not try to lock in a good rate early, but I'm planning on renting it out and this throws a bit if a wrench in my margins. I can take it financially, but wondering, If I absolutely needed to get out of buying it, what recourse do I have? Or could I go ahead, and refinance later (who knows rates at that time...)?

In the beginning of my career I absconded 1 company who had 3 years bond and I worked there for 5 months. My pf account is created for that company and it has been closed with reason cessation (short service). After that I worked in 1 company for 6 years and since January I'm working in TCS. Should I mention my first company experience. So far I'm not mentioning it anywhere.

My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. Is it really that difficult to get hired for a federal job? I was interviewed for a GS12 job but never heard back, they still didn’t hire anyone and I didn’t get a rejection. I applied for another GS07 job, was accepted, I took it, but I believe I can do better. I have a master’s and have extra graduate research experience. I am still applying to new jobs but I was told it is impossible to move up the grade level now. Everyone is telling me to stick with the government. What are your thoughts?

How's the start to your year going? I am having terrible burnout, but then beat myself up for abandoning my students when I think about it. Anyone else experience this?

As of late, my work related anxiety has reached new levels and it’s really starting to affect me mentally. I’m part of a great team; I’m trusted and supported, have a great track record, there are no issues, and have been no incidents. Regardless, my professional self perception and confidence is so rattled as of late, it’s almost like a paralysis at times. I realize there are much larger problems right now, but if anyone has any tips or advice to get over this, I am all ears. Thanks all!

First year teacher who has gotten PTSD from one student. 2 concussions, multiple scratches, bruises etc. I can’t help but feel burnt out and it’s not even my second semester...

Thinking of leaving the education profession and getting a law degree. It’s just a viper pit and it’s not okay to spend your entire life feeling unappreciated.

How are you taking care of yourself if you have depression? All of my ways of staying grounded and motivated were attached to my routine and the fulfillment from work. I feel like I’m losing all motivation and struggling more the longer remote learning goes on.

Anyone ever leave teaching ? Thinking about it. Can’t deal with the amount of work and lack of planning time.

I’m exhausted.. Beyond stressed and feeling like I’m not doing good enough for admin. My mental health has been in the tank this year. honestly no one on campus is available to help or listen

We're going to be starting a new self-esteem boosting program with the 6th grade girls. Does your school have anything like this?

Tomorrow they are requiring masks again and I was almost in tears when I found out. We have been mask free (recommended) since June and I feel like we are being muzzled again. I am vaccinated, frustrated, and have been off of antidepressants since March. I don’t even want to go into work tomorrow. Anything is better than being virtual and I am trying to look at the bright side, but moving backward still burns. We have parent-teacher conferences coming up and I am hoping that it’s temporary.

What is your favorite self-care strategy? I’m needing a lot of self care as testing season approaches and my stress levels increase drastically!

How do y’all deal with anxiety? It’s not Job-related, I just have GAD and depression (which gets worse in the winter). I see a therapist, I’m on meds, etc, but I feel like my work suffers.

I recently went on antidepressants for my anxiety and it has helped tremendously. I felt like I was in a constant state of panic and anger before. Meds are available if you need them!
