2020 grad M&A/PE Associate in LCOL area thinking about moving to a ECVC/M&A boutique. I generally like the work I do and the people I work with, but I really don’t like the hours and the constant late nights and weekends. Currently on pace for 2250. Boutique I have been eyeing has billable hour requirement of 1500-1600 and comes with a 20-25% paycut. Is this a stupid idea and should I grind it out until I can move in house? Will this ruin my opportunities down the road?

Taking my shot in tech sales. Consulting was great experience but enjoyed the relationship and BD aspect more and didn’t see myself climbing to partner. I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. I was going to leave the legal field all together because I was so burned out and depressed, but I decided to give the field one more chance if I was able to go in-house. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.

I asked for a raise in April 2022 after three years with my company. Positive feedback since day one. Learned I was making less than peers at other asset managers in NYC with less experience (14 years). Latest conversation was with HR about how they calculate salaries. We talk about not being paid enough, but now I see that 16 years and a masters degree has caused my salary to be higher than any entry-level job will pay someone with no experience in the field.

Are you being asked to help out for absent teachers or taken on extra duties because of the teacher shortage? Are you getting paid extra? What perks are you receiving for helping out? Lastly, is it volunteer or volunteer-told? How are you all managing?

I am on a stress leave. Every time I look at emails from work, the less encouraged I am to return. It is so overwhelming! I want to finish out the year, but will definitely not be making it back next year. So many things have changed, and next year there will be all kinds of change and turmoil. I am sad to be leaving on such a low note. I always envisioned retiring at the top of my game, having a party...etc...

I recently went on antidepressants for my anxiety and it has helped tremendously. I felt like I was in a constant state of panic and anger before. Meds are available if you need them!
