Bain & Company I’m from Italy and will start my master’s degree at Oxbridge this fall. I got my undergrad from a target uni in continental Europe. I want to start my career in consulting, possibly MBB, in London. I know consulting firms tend to hire locally but I’d really like to work in London and that’s also one of the main reasons why I went for the Oxbridge degree. Anyone, who might have some tips, or went through a similar experience? McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Bain & Company

Wait; you want to leave the viper pit of public education for....
Practicing law? You should talk to some lawyers. I have a few friends that got law degrees and realized they didn't like how absolutely cut throat it was.
One is a bank executive now, one is a hospital administrator.
I have a feeling we have the viper pit in every profession. We teach our students to be good people, to respect others, and be flexible hence, go with the flow. The truth is, it’s all forgotten when they enter the adult world. You’re right, forget law school, I’m going to use my psychology and clinical psych and counseling to open up my own practice. I can work for myself. Thanks for the wake up call.
This is what I’m looking at, too. I have 4 years to retirement and have been debating law school or paralegal. I just can’t see myself paying all that for law school though. But, gosh, I really miss being a student.
That sucks! My physical health has been destroyed by teaching. I can’t leave because I’m too close to retiring and can’t afford the delay in getting retirement pay right away. If I leave now, I have to wait 8 years for the money. With it, I can take a lesser paying job. But I can’t afford to do that now.
I am working on my Masters and getting my LPC now. I have only been teaching for 12 years...don't think I can do 10 more years.
With an LPC, you can open your own practice or practice outside of the school or in it. It offers a lot of freedom. That’s specifically why I chose that path instead of school counseling.
Literally just told my mom that I may leave to get my masters in marketing. Today was the final straw; no one should leave work crying
I completely understand. Your work related stress had caused your anxiety to become less manageable. Have you considered taking a medical leave of absence? You need a note from your doctor for HR.
I plan to do some school counseling before my LPC work. I hope to have a better experience.
