Hi I can't DM . Need 11likes thanks in advance.
Microsoft Received some feedback yesterday that I’m “Too smart for the role and they feared that I’d get bored and leave quickly. “ It’s honestly the most confused I’ve ever left a call. Does anyone know what this means? I thought it was a compliment initially but in retrospect it just doesn’t seem very genuine. Have y’all had anyone hit you with this one?

I spent a few years client side and ran into this a lot. My solution was creating a "RACI" chart at the start of each project.
Responsible - whoever is making the work; in this case you and your partner or team
Approver - the one person (or as few people as possible) that give final sign-off
Consulted - those with relevant expertise that you should speak to or share work with; decide this list at the beginning so there are no last min surprises
Informed - a long list of people who get an email once the work is finished and have no say
This is perfection.
Marketing departments, from the fresh grads to the overpromoted department head, are all frustrated wannabe CDs running on pure Dunning-Kruger.
Give them a little song and dance by all means, but think of it as the toll you need to pay to keep them away from the actual decision making.
Associate Creative Decoy?
I deal with this all the time. Marketing team perpetually get in the way and think they can dictate creatives. Put your foot down and tell them that once the brief is handed over, it is in the creative team’s hands to execute. Structure your process into a brief meeting and periodically 1-2 deliverable/feedback meeting(s) between creative and marketing. And though who ever miss it, miss the boat sorry (not sorry)
Reason #741 why I left brand side.
Where did you end up? At an agency?
It’s not your job to figure this out. Bring it up to your CD / ECD until red in the face - but do so in a constructive way. Why is it they shouldn’t be there? - make a case with objective reason. Then, hopefully your creative leadership can help. If not, prob have to go with it, especially in this environment. It’s not your job to tell accounts or clients that they can’t be there
