Part 2: I know I would burn bridges if I switched firms, but is it really that deep? I don’t want to have a poor reputation at either firm or pull a CLM here. I would have lots of connects at the firm and EY has a very very strong group for what I’m interested in. I want to be mindful of politics but I don’t want to leave any money or opportunities on the table. Is it worth applying? I would greatly appreciate any insight/experience you all have on this. And let me know if you think of something I’m missing.
You’re loading the cart before the horse (or however that saying goes). Have you already received an offer from EY? If not, by all means apply and interview diligently. When you do get the offer tell the firm you were going to join (im assuming you havent joined yet) that you received one more offer. Two scenarios will happen now, either your current firm will want to match the EY offer to retain you or they cant. Not joining a firm because of another offer is relatively common and wont necessarily burn bridges, just be nice about it to your recruiter/stakeholders and inform that while you would love to join, you cant leave the other opportunity
Thank you for sharing. Ya you’re right I don’t want to get ahead of myself. Should I delete the LinkedIn post before applying? I can also use some advice on how to deal w the recruiters/interviewers/connections at EY if they ask about my job status.
