Paul, Weiss is a great place to work for those that can handle the workload and pay attention to detail as well as a strong work ethic. They offer good benefits such as a 401k, PTO. They also have Insurance including health, vision, and dental. They do observe their employees work closely however, so do not try to take advantage of this kindness by slacking off.

Planning a trip to Rome and Naples with day trips to Tivoli and Pompeii. Is 1 week enough? I feel like reading through 3/4 day Rome and 2 day Naples itineraries, the trip seems rushed. I would say max we could do is 1.5 weeks but adding on 3-5 more days seems almost too much? Thoughts? For reference, I did Venice-Florence-Rome in a week and it seemed okay but it also wasn’t as planned out

What should I be thinking about (long-term trajectory, WLB, future exit opportunities, other)? Appreciate the input in advance.

Question for my friend at KPMG. Her MDs and Partners have been directing her to eat her hours. If she charges over 45 hours she will get emails from management and when she charges over 65 she got a call from a PPMD. I work at deloitte and have never been told to do this and thought it honestly was illegal. Thoughts? It doesn’t seem right that she’s having to eat those hours and feel scared when she’s working til 10/12 every night.

Additional Posts in Big Law

I am a mid level and have received an offer from a regional big law firm in a non-market paying location. I believe the firm would be a great fit and the location is where I want to be. The biggest issue is money. I’d be lateraling from full cravath in a major market and the initial offer I received is a bit off that (read: 50% salary reduction). While the market is cheaper in some respects, housing is not. How far can I expect this firm to go to in terms of compensation? Any negotiation tips?

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

Lately, the actions I have been taking have been based on wrong, inaccurate, or incomplete info. I then get reamed in M&Cs and look like an idiot. [Cont. in comments]
