Maybe if you’re at least an 8 in the looks department. With the job market nowadays, you have to use what you have to your advantage.

Again depends on the industry generally only the film industry wants that. Just provide LinkedIn and put your photo on your profile

depends on your industry and/or country you’re doing business in. the norms vary. but in the US, the answer is NEVER photo on resume. it is only to your detriment because it creates a liability risk for your potential employer under most existing american labor laws and will therefore earn you negative points.

Photo of George Clooney. 👍

My husband (who runs an HR dept) says that photos on resumes can lead to rejections by the ATS that first filters resumes, and it can lead to garbled documents in some cases.

NOOOOOOO

No!

No photo. No one actually looks at resumes anymore. It’s all automated. And a photo actually hinders your progress. They will go look at your LinkedIn though if your resume passes. So make sure you’re dashing and amazing there.

How do I get a job as a Mechanical Engineer if I dont have experience?

I couldn’t get an internship while in school. I have a BS in ME and projects from school under my belt. I’ve also passed the FE exam. I’ve been mostly just doing CAD for a company for the last year by creating minimally dimensioned drawings and moving parts around in assemblies. I want to evolve in my career and be doing more. I worked so hard to earn my degree and I feel like I’m not even using it. But who will hire me?

Other than partner track, salary/benefits, and switching from coverage to general comm lit, what qualities of the move should I be thinking about as I weigh my options? Biggest cringe for me has got to be when people include “ex-<company name>” in their title… see it for loads of the big 4 firms and I’m thinking wow you must love slave drivers that underappreciate you 🤣

This one is going to make some of y’all mad, but it’s so annoyingly unnecessary. The most irritating part is “is it a shirt day or a skirt day”…. Like women don’t wear shirts with skirts and men don’t wear shirts with pants. Shirts and skirts are not mutually exclusive. I’ll just leave this here.

There really is such a direct correlation between cringey title and cringey posts.

Before LinkedIn...to me, the king of professional cringey was Shingy. Do you guys remember him? He was aol's overpaid "digital prophet" and got paid to visit companies at lunchtime and babble the same kind of nonsense we now call "LinkedIn cringe".
