Skip Bangkok, go to Chiangmai, then down to Phuket
Second this. Definitely Phuket and see if you can take a day to tour the Phi Phi islands. Bangkok is like any other major city, in my opinion.
Guys Phuket and phi phi islands are running rampant with tourists. I went to Krabi instead and stayed at Rayavadee and it was magical

If you can do Bangkok/Chiangmai/Phuket you won't regret it, 3 very different atmospheres
There are definitely great things to see on Bangkok so don't skip it (temples, museums, markets, river, nightlife)
2 days each is a good compromise if you stay for 6 days. You can adjust depending on what you prefer: Phuket for beaches, Bangkok for nightlife and going out in the city, Chiang mai for the sightseeing and culture.
With my personal preferences and having been there, I’d do Bangkok 3 days, Phuket 2 days and Chiang mai 1 day.
Don’t skip bangkok if u like food. It is my soulcity for food. It brings together south east asian flavors with a very evolved western sitdown experience. Some of the world’s best restaurants in my opinion have cropped up there. I would recommend gaa, saneh jaan, paste, issaya siam club, nahm.
You can easily see Bangkok in a day. It's not that great.
Hot take but I think BKK is actually really cool. So many great restaurants, coffee shops, temples ...
I agree with Deloitte 2. Skip Phuket, go to the gulf of Thailand. Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao are three very special islands.
