Potentially new to the consulting world. I currently have a steady job with $84k salary but recently received an offer for a data consulting job at Guidehouse for $135k salary in the defense industry.

I personally would avoid GH if all possible (I’m desperately trying to leave), but if it’s a sold and funded multi-year contract (or a contract with multiple option years), then it could be worth such a big salary jump
Bain Capital. Slashing benefits, constant reorganizations making it impossible to seek promotions, hyper emphasis on utilization with zero tolerance, got rid of floating holidays. Not a place to build a career anymore
Currently work there but switching because I was underpaid. Honestly very team and segment dependent, the energy segment (where I work) is really very good and respected. Not sure about D&S. But hard to not take such a nice raise.
I'm leaving and I'm no fan of GH overall, but it's not as bad as some make it seem to be honestly. Just a typical mid-level consulting firm. I would say, confirm your future prospects, see if they have a long term role for you and then accept.
Anyone know of their usual expected utilization rate?
Depends on your level. Senior Consultant is 91%
Please, protect your peace and do not go to GH. All the best
