Bribery: 1 m&m for #1, 1 jelly bean for #2
Talk about the process
Step 1 - chill. Your anxiety is making me withhold. 4 days is not a long time to “learn” to sit alone in a room on a cold hole with water in it when your entire life all you had to do was... nothing. It’s going to take as long as it takes (kinda like going potty). One of our children just figured it out (takes after his mother I guess), the other one we did a few afternoons without pants or diaper and m&ms rewards helped... it took awhile but we eventually got to the bottom of it ;-) . Just, try to relax... and breathe... see? You’re doing it!!
We tried and failed with a 2 yo, gave up and came back again and only had success at 3.5. They’re all different. Don’t stress.
We used Oh Crap. It was great. Take a few days off and be focused and attentive. Also, be patient. It will work
We did too. We had negative progress over 5-6 days. He just got too freaked out and held everything in. Will try again in a few months
We started at thanksgiving, same age too. We used the oh crap potty training book, worked very well for us
Yikes, sorry to hear that. The book is kind of annoying about this (eg, blames the parent for being too intense), but I think taking a break and restarting might be good. Leading up to it, try reading potty books if you’re not already. Then you can say, “sit on the potty like Daniel tiger!”
Mine is 3.5 , he is now starting to say he has popped after he is done in the diaper - just the fact I don’t have to be a detective made me happy. 2.5 you guys are making me jealous
3 years old next month and I’m in the same boat.
I used the book "oh crap" by Jamie Glowacki. Worked brilliantly, my 2.5yr boy was using the toilet in daytime with no accidents within a week. Your mileage may vary, but the book is very comprehensive and covers almost every issue you could ask about.
It’s a myth that you can potty train a kid. They are all different and will only do it when they are ready to. Some are ready super early and some are super late. Don’t rush or force it. Just encourage them and prompt them, then give them the time to choose when they are ready
