Practicing lawyer (mid level associate) hoping to transition to tax after completing LLM in spring 2026. Assuming I have creds for mid- or Biglaw, is anyone willing to share insight on how their firms view (or appear to view) the job market insofar as fall and spring hiring is concerned? Current firm is so heavily focused on business lit it’s not practical for me to stay and do tax.

I’m new to tax law and I’m worried that I’m going to respond to/answer a scam and give away client info (or my own tax preparer info). Hi all- how’s the job market for tax lawyers nowadays? I’m working in accounting firm (international tax) and looking to jump into a law firm. I have 2YOE and JD.

Has anyone successfully claimed that income from a NY big law firm is not NY income based on TSB-M-06(5)I (May 15, 2006)? I think that my situation meets all the factors necessary. I am going to claim that the income should be sourced from Texas—I worked out of the Houston office from time to time while there. I was in Texas for more than half the year.

I'm currently a third year V100 tax associate and I am interviewing with my dream firm next week. This is my first lateral interview. Other than being prepared to discuss my current and past matters, do you have any tax-specific interview tips?
