Practicing lawyer (mid level associate) hoping to transition to tax after completing LLM in spring 2026. Assuming I have creds for mid- or Biglaw, is anyone willing to share insight on how their firms view (or appear to view) the job market insofar as fall and spring hiring is concerned? Current firm is so heavily focused on business lit it’s not practical for me to stay and do tax.

Tough market bc lots of IRS lawyers are on the job hunt too. What kind of tax do you want to do?

like

I‘d prefer transactional tax work or something adjacent like EC/EB. I like international but it seems extremely difficult.

I have noticed an uptick in private client/ t&e position that are available at big and mid-law firms in the Philadelphia area. Most require some experience though.

Where are you doing the LLM? I’m pretty sure NYU and a couple others have something akin to OCI that many firms will hire from. Otherwise it may be rough because Biglaw will view you as a first year and we do most of that hiring through summer associate positions. Big4 may be a good stepping stone option to do Biglaw later.

Republicans... in hindsight, do you think it was a political miscalculation to have Pence on the ticket? Thoughts?

Relatively new position at a coveted firm as their Marketing and BD manager. Have suffered burnout and depressive episodes previously: can feel the symptoms raising it’s head. Most importantly, struggling to tolerate how directors speak to me, whereas previously I wouldn’t take it personally and get on with it. Actively looking for a different position as I’ve come to discover this company exploits EME employees, but want to attempt to end on a “high note”.

Hello Fishes, I am on my notice period with 20 days remaining. Having Total YOE as 6 years in Insurance Broking and claims. Looking for opportunities in operations (Back office, Middle office and front office). Please let me know if any openings available for me. Also ex cognizant employee.

Quick question.
I was a contractor for a big company and they just let me know that my last day is December 30th. I got this position thanks to a recruiting company that has been great and gives me benefits.
Should I:
- Continue working with the recruiting company, hoping that they will find another position for me? (as they told me they will, and when they applied me I started working with my current company within 2 weeks)
- Work with the recruiter + apply for jobs on my own?
