Are there any resources? When I look at many vacancies I feel so many positions are niche specializations within comms, pr, marketing. I’ve managed all, done most, but feel outrun by younger peers competing for entry level roles that still require a few years of agency or specialized experience
“Merely a graphic designer”? I really wish you had phrased that differently because it comes off as very elitist. That “graphic designer” obviously had something that got him hired as a marketing director.
Now that being said, are you looking at entry level jobs with 10 YOE? Typically people with 10+ years are at least VPs at agencies, but they’re specialized in an area and have PR experience.

What I mean is that I didn’t have strong marketing background in my earlier role as comms director and considered it my Achilles heel… so when I took this role I was expecting to have someone I would work closely with and learn from with a “marketing director” title.
