Your situation is awfully specific and seems too narrow of a thinking. I also assume you're a woman - we tend to over analyze and obsess over details. Take a step back and think through what you want to do more broadly, then what skills you lack, then where and how you can obtain those skills to get eventually to where you want to be professionally. Think career trajectory and industry vs from job A to job B at one specific company. Ask those in positions that you want to be in some day for advice and feedback on how to go about it yourself. And that may include a temporary pay cut if starting at a position lower than where you want to be some day in order to break in and learn the skills and job. This stuff is a long-term strategic process not a one time job application task. This is your first big picture assignment if you will.. Good luck!
I do appreciate this! And yes - luxury goods marketing is what I’ve always been interested in, and I think you had a great point that I should start talking the person who are actually in role roles - perhaps will help me build connection too. Thank you!
Adding to the above:my biggest question is I don’t see how my skill sets r entirely transferable. At agencies, Most of my current clients were B2B tech, and I either handled only trafficking, or only client relationship - I never had Media planning experience. I can recommend strategies like they do, but never seen the "full picture”. In my current ad tech role - even though I work with a much wider range of clients, my day to day contact/learning seems to be limited to how agency use our tech, sometimes they don’t even have the full picture of how our tech I fluencies the overall campaign performance. I feel extremely siloed in my learning, so wanted to ultimately go to client-side and see the whole picture. Hopefully I won’t take too much of a pay cut, too...currently I’m at about 85-90K depending on commission
Just apply. You won’t have a shot if you don’t try!
