Facing a career decision: do I take the pay raise, or the position that I'm more interested in?
I’m planning on asking for a raise for the first time in my career and I want to list out my accomplishments but I don’t want to seem cocky about it. (cont’d)
I’d love some help thinking through this. I’m currently renting for $1600 base ($1800 total) and live in the least desirable part of town, and expect it to raise to about $2k/month. I was planning to buy my first property in the city and Airbnb part of it, but it will take me about a year to save up the cash (~$500k starting). Eventual goal is to move more rural but trying to build to FI. I found a property in my ideal dream location for $280k but it needs work, and can’t Airbnb it. Continued
How do I tell a fellow colleague, mgr and a friend that he needs to start developing work products and not only just review & provide feedback? Promotion to mgr doesn't mean no work by self at all....
Fastest promotion from A to SA that you know?
Ladies I have been reflecting on something that's been bothering me a lot. Women are not getting promoted to manager fast enough. I am up for promotion this year and it feels hard to get your name out
I've been passed up for promotion. I know that if my mental health had been better this past year, I probably would have been promoted. Spent too many days just trying to survive rather than excel. 😡
Raise your hand if your take-home is upsetting compared to your gross pay 🙋🏼♂️🙋🏽♂️🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♀️
Weird combination of de-facto self-promotion under poor guise of advertising Becker’s products PLUS humble-brag of winning the EWS award. Gotta love it!
Negotiating tips at year-end review for getting an above-average raise? Or do numbers speak for themselves?
Question— do you share your comp with close friends? Me and my roommate have been friends forever and while I don’t really share my specific pay, Im not sure if I should share it with her. When she got promoted she told me her comp tho I didn’t ask. Today I found out I was promoted (🎉) and left that part out. She asked me if I knew what my raise would be and I just told her the % but not the actual amount. Is that unnecessarily secretive? We’re in diff industries too.
Didn't get promoted and the more I think about it, the more upset I become. Had a good year, helped fill in gaps, took on roles to help lead internal initiatives, led/managed teams to success, and worked looonnnggg hours to the point of burnout. Leaders also know how much I was working. I didn't expect a promotion because I had low expectations for my firm, but I'm still pretty bitter. Should I ask why? Was I too naive and ended up giving too much? Or is this a reflection of my work/value?
Deloitte Moms, I remember seeing in some other bowl that Deloitte gives 200 dollars gift card or vantage points for new moms. I am having trouble finding the information in DeloitteNet or TOD. Are we still getting it or was it a past promotion kind of thing? Appreciate any guidance on this.
How soon is too soon to ask for a raise? I know the raises in this industry are usually pretty standardized, so wanted to hear some insight about this topic. Thanks!
Have an approved i140 and getting a promotion from Mgr to Snr. Mgr. Does it require any filings or adjustments with USCIS?
Manager 1. Transfer from audit into FDD (and have to do one more busy season in audit), or leave to a financial reporting job at a large public co for 40% raise?
Replying All to an obvious mistake email should automatically make you ineligible for promotion.
I’m being promoted to Manager this November but recent got offer from a fintech. In money term the manager base pay is 5k greater than the new role but i’m negotiating to match the offer with my Manager salary. Should I wait until promoted or move asap? I dont want to continue working in external audit so trying to pivot to data analyst role/IA in the fintech before moving to full DA/DS position… but thinking the Manager promotion would help negotiate salary in the future.
How long do you think it’d take to “explore” Chicago? Have opportunity to work remote from US and would love to travel from city to city maybe every year or every 6 months and wondering if a year is enough time to get a good experience out of Chicago
Are paid interview prep bootcamps worth it? I see programs that charge hefty sums like 5% of your new salary, but only if you land the job you want. They aren't worth it for lateral moves but could they help me exit consulting to an amazing tech product role?
Delta - Do I need to request that my MQMs and MQDs get rolled over from 2016? Why are they not showing on my app?
I just want a 9 to 5 job, nothing stressful and making decent ish money. Work in a data analyst type role atm, what can I do where I just get that 9 to 5? Don't really mind if the work is boring tbh
How is the culture and WLB at pwc? Would be in health payer tech consulting at SA level.
Has anyone used Bumble BFF? Early 30s, married. Many of my friends having kids. Feel like I lost my best friend despite my best efforts to make myself available on her schedule post kid.
Producers, what changes are you making in your roles to promote lasting social change? Demanding diversity in reels? Pushing representation in casting? How can we be (and do) better? All ideas are welcome.
Anyone keeping up with the immigration developments via the reconciliation bill? Seems hopeful. Thoughts?
Can anybody suggest any books or resources to get smart on medical device marketing and/or medical device manufacturing?
Going to San Juan, PR next weekend from Jersey for 3 days, anyone know if I’ll need to take covid tests? Also staying at La Concha, any recs would be appreciated!
PwC CMAAS offer in hand, but one thing holding me back from accepting at the moment is the work/life balance. I’m transferring from audit. I understand work/life is a little crazy right now in CMAAS. Is this expected to cool down? What were hours like before things got crazy? Better than B4 audit hours? Thanks!
How long approximately do you have to stay as an art director before applying for / being considered for a Senior AD position? Obvi I know that the work has to speak for it too.
My mom is going through a very bad situation with her previous employer who is not paying her her correct retirement benefits after screwing up their paperwork. She worked for a school district for about 15 years. She has a case but she is afraid it’s not high value enough to attract the attention of the attorney. School district is now ghosting her. If anyone has advice or interest, please let me know, thanks so much
I’ve got a few interviews next week with PwC Strategy& but they are part of a larger hiring event that seem to all interview with the PwC new equation/professional framework. The recruiter gave me a prep guide but it just says situational interviews..I thought it was supposed to be more case focused? Anyone have any insight or is this how they are interviewing across the board now for consulting roles?
Any litigators who prefer litigating over clerking, or the other way around? I’m senior at a major appellant-side litigation firm. My boss has told me that there is a clerkship opening with a federal judge that I admire, and with his rec I would be a shoe-in. I like litigation and the opps it provides to drive change in the law, but this opp could open up some doors and give work life balance. On the other hand, I don’t know if clerking might be boring, or frustrating reading bad briefs. Thx!
Considering leaving hectic agency to an in house creative team at a relatively unknown tech startup. I’ll get a significant raise and a better work environment but still on the fence. Thoughts?
I currently make 60LPA in Hyderabad and my firm has an offer for 150k in Chicago. Is it worth? I am generally happy with the package in India and have good savings as I own my house in Hyderabad and I am not a lavish spender. I have been onsite in US previously with an allowance but I did not go crazy over the so called American experience. Single earner with one kid.
Damn ATL back at it again with the sexy weather
