I love what I do in case management, for inmates working on reentry but I would like to explore other job roles and start making a better income. recently asked a question about going to law school with an accounting degree. follow up on that- if i work 1-2 years at my current firm (offered 72,500 full time after graduating undergrad) and acquire my cpa (courses and exam fees paid for by the firm), then apply to law school, would that be more beneficial? ive been reading a lot that work experience helps with the application, alongside having a high gpa and LSAT score

How does one most effectively make the transition into management from an Individual Contributor?

I've been an individual contributor for 4 years in Tech, have 8 years of experience total. I'm finding it difficult to make the management transition despite having management experience, performing beyond expectations, and having a genuine passion for enablement and development.

I recently lateraled into Big Law. Most of my colleagues are homegrown. My shift did involve a big change in practice area, and there's work that I haven't done before that I now have to do.

But, sometimes I feel stupid here, even for work which I have done previously. It's like I'm unable to understand instructions the first time around. And I have seen my colleagues getting annoyed by that. It's like I've become dumb. In my defence, I could say they're giving half assed instructions.
