I can't remember exactly but we got some ridiculous amount of time off for Christmas last year
Firm shut down is from Xmas eve day until the day after New years. Its usually "take two, get three" or something along those lines. You take two days of PTO and the firm gives you the other three non-holiday days off.
Recruiter is telling you the truth. Christmas is a little different every year based on what days of the week it falls on, but the gist is that the firm is closed from Christmas Day to Jan 2, and your standard and floating holidays cover it without a hit to utilization (pwc counts holiday hours as util). I think we had 2 days off for July 4th this year as well.
Pwc's holiday policy is quite nice.
In addition to the standard 3 weeks PTO, I think we get 3 flex days. They basically tell you to use those 3 in between Xmas and NY. If you do you get like 10 days off in a row. Then we have a 4 day weekend for July fourth.
Thank you all. I wasn't sure I believed I would have all of xmas to New Years off without using the precious little pto I would have accumulated if I start in the near future.
I've only been with the firm for one year, but my LoS really emphasized that we are not to be working during that time either
Yea, marketing and recruiting bs aside, Pwc does actually draw a line in the sand when it comes to Xmas. They make it clear we are to tell our clients that the firm is closed and we will be unavailable. Been here for almost 5 years and never had to lift a finger over Xmas. It's also nice to not have to worry about a hit to util.
There are some projects that you may have you to do some work - I had to work half of the last shut down BUT I was able to take that time a few months later. I took one for the team because I was able to take almost a month off for the BIL's wedding overseas during the summer before the shut down.
FY17 has 12 paid holidays. 6 for Xmas/New Years. Memorial Day. 2 for July 4th. Labor Day. 2 for Tgiving.
How many paid holidays are there in total then? I count 7 with 5 at xmas, 2 at the 4th. Add 4 more for Memorial Day, Labor Day, and thanksgiving (2 days)?
Thanks pwc6
