We have nursing moms group, working moms group and a working parents group. I think they are very helpful to vent, connect and get advice. We also pair a new returning mom with a mom that’s been through it before as someone that can offer support when re-entering the work force. We also allow people to have flex schedules and return part time and ramp up if people don’t want to come back full time out of the gate. Some moms never return full time either and maintain a part time schedule
Yes
Sometimes forced moms groups are less helpful and supportive than you would expect. My agency isn’t big enough to offer such a thing but I found tremendous support from all the parents here, not just the moms.
Check the fifth trimester account in IG
Digitas has a working moms group, and Publicis had a group-wide working parents group.
If your agency doesn’t have one maybe consider forming? You can start easy with a working moms/parents slack channel and if there’s momentum maybe solicit some volunteers to do something more formal
I’d also say though that the best support I get is just individual relationships with the other moms I work with day to day. I think more often than not most are totally willing to lend an ear, offer advice etc if you’re comfortable enough opening the door to that conversation
I started a moms slack channel and little community was wonderful. The company later started a formal parents ERG.
Start one! I bet you will find lots of people that would be interested and appreciative.
FCB Toronto had a parent support group…and then they laid me off on maternity leave. Lol.
So much support. But is that even legal?
